The Tom Holland-JFK rumor has the familiar ingredients of a modern casting hoax: a major star, a prestigious studio, a historical figure and a supposed Deadline scoop. The claim quickly circulated online as though it were a genuine casting announcement. But once the trail is followed back to its supposed source, the story starts to unravel.

Is Tom Holland really trading the Spider-Man suit for the Oval Office? Here is what the evidence actually shows.

The rumor was amplified by the X account DiscussingUsa, which posted that Tom Holland had been cast as John F. Kennedy in a J.F.K. biopic for A24 and attributed the information to Deadline. The post presented the claim in the familiar breaking-news format used by entertainment scoops, but a genuine Deadline report does not support that attribution.

Current reporting also identifies the supposed announcement as a social-media rumor and finds no verified A24 casting announcement confirming Holland as J.F.K. 

That distinction matters because fake casting posts often borrow the visual language of trade reporting to give an unsupported claim the appearance of provenance. In this case, there is no verified evidence that A24 announced a J.F.K. film starring Holland, nor that Deadline published the alleged casting story. The confusion is particularly easy to understand because Hollywood is already developing a major Kennedy project, just not the one described in the viral post.

Netflix’s Kennedy is currently in production, with Michael Fassbender leading the drama as Joe Kennedy Sr., the patriarch of the Kennedy family. The eight-episode series, inspired by Fredrik Logevall’s JFK: Coming of Age in the American Century, 1917-1956, begins in the 1930s and follows the family before John F. Kennedy reaches the White House. Joshuah Melnick plays Jack Kennedy, meaning Fassbender is not portraying J.F.K. himself.

And that brings Holland back to a much more recognizable corner of his career.

Tom Holland does have another biographical performance ahead, but it is Fred Astaire rather than J.F.K. The Sony project, directed by Paul King, has been in development since 2021, and Holland recently confirmed that he has returned to dance rehearsals, with plans to perform the film’s dance sequences himself.

Meanwhile, another September 18 report has reignited speculation about Holland’s MCU future. A report from SuperHeroHype cites scooper MyTimeToShineH claiming that Miles Morales will appear in Spider-Man 5 and that Holland has signed a major deal. However, the report itself notes that Marvel Studios and Sony have not officially confirmed either Spider-Man 5 or Miles’ casting. 

For now, the J.F.K. story belongs in the rumor file, not Holland’s confirmed filmography. His documented upcoming projects point elsewhere, while Netflix’s Kennedy provides the real connection between Hollywood and the Kennedy family.
