Fact Check: Is Rowan Atkinson Really Returning as Johnny English for One Last Mission?
James Bond has the gadgets, the charm and the license to kill; Johnny English has a remarkable talent for getting in his own way. Rowan Atkinson made that distinction an art form, playing the secret agent with such unwavering seriousness that even a sushi conveyor belt becomes a formidable enemy. From fumbling his way through high-stakes espionage to awkwardly swinging for the Crown Jewels, Atkinson turned spectacular incompetence into international comedy gold.
Now, reports suggest Rowan Atkinson may be preparing to dust off his spy credentials for one final Johnny English outing.

Not quite. A post by Havoc Crave on X claims that the actor has confirmed that his upcoming return will be his final outing as the hilariously incompetent secret agent. However, while a fourth film of Johnny English is indeed in the works, there is no confirmation that Atkinson is hanging up his spy credentials.
The next Johnny English adventure is no longer just a possibility, either. Production has wrapped, with Working Title Films backing the fourth instalment and Rowan Atkinson reprising his signature role. The film was shot across the United Kingdom, including London, and Malta, marking another round of international espionage for Britain's most accident-prone operative.
There is more familiar company expected to join the returning secret agent, with Ben Miller reportedly reprising his role as Bough. Longtime franchise writers William Davies, Neal Purvis, and Robert Wade are also attached to the supposed 2027 project. While the fourth film is moving ahead, the supposed farewell Havoc Crave insinuated, attached to Atkinson, remains unsubstantiated.
Beyond the possibility of another round of Man vs. Bee, Rowan Atkinson fans have another familiar face to look forward to.
Rowan Atkinson's other upcoming project
Beyond his return to the world of espionage, Rowan Atkinson has another rather exciting engagement lined up, this time without an MI7 badge or a secret mission. The comedian is preparing to return to the West End with Rowan Live, a strictly limited 30-performance sketch show at London's Gillian Lynne Theatre. The run is scheduled from February 8 to March 13, 2027.

The production marks Atkinson's first West End sketch show in 40 years, bringing audiences back to the kind of character comedy that made him a household name. Alongside classic routines, the performer will introduce new material co-written with longtime collaborators Richard Curtis and Ben Elton. Clearly, Johnny English is not the only familiar character act fans have reason to anticipate.
