Robert Pattinson has seemingly made 2026 his personal movie marathon, and Hollywood has barely had a chance to catch its breath. From sharing the screen with Zendaya in The Drama to sailing through Christopher Nolan’s $1.8 billion-grossing The Odyssey, the actor has covered romantic drama, epic adventure and psychological horror. With Dune: Part Three still ahead and The Batman Part II awaiting its 2028 arrival, it is hardly surprising that the internet has made up another project to add to his ever-growing slate: Michael: Part 2.

The actor is now being linked to Michael Jackson’s biopic sequel, although this latest casting rumor might be getting ahead of itself.

Robert Pattinson has not been cast as Michael Jackson in Michael: Part 2, despite a rumor suggesting otherwise. The claim has been circulating online, with DiscussingFilm among the accounts spreading the casting speculation. While the idea of the Twilight star stepping into the King of Pop’s story has certainly caught attention, there is no official confirmation supporting it.

That does not mean the sequel itself is a Hollywood fantasy. Following the first Michael biopic’s massive global box office success in April 2026, Lionsgate has officially moved Michael: Part 2 into early development. The California Film Commission has also awarded the working-titled Michael 2 production tax credits, while the studio is reportedly targeting late 2026 or early 2027 to begin filming.

The next chapter is expected to move beyond the Bad era and explore the later decades of Michael Jackson’s life. Jaafar Jackson is widely expected to return, while Antoine Fuqua and Graham King remain in discussions to reprise their creative roles. From the 1993 Super Bowl halftime show to the serious allegations that followed, Michael: Part 2 has plenty of ground to cover without adding Robert Pattinson to its cast. Besides, he has already joined the James Bond talk, another project and his slate might just burst.

Speaking of Michael Jackson and Robert Pattinson, one rather hilarious anecdote from the actor's life immediately comes to mind.

When Robert Pattinson claimed Michael Jackson was his dad

As it turns out, Robert Pattinson has a Michael Jackson story that is considerably more entertaining than the latest casting rumours. During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live while promoting The Drama, the actor recalled how he once convinced his elementary school classmates that the King of Pop was his biological father. The childhood fabrication even involved a little musical evidence.

Pattinson took his Show and Tell performance rather seriously, bringing a cassette recording of a Michael Jackson album to convince his classmates that the superstar was his dad. When questions arose about his famous father's unmistakable voice, the young actor invented an explanation involving ginkgo biloba. Apparently, his parents took the supplements, and he simply liked how the name sounded.
