Mia Goth has built a career out of making unsettling characters linger, from Pearl and Maxine in Ti West’s X trilogy to her work in Infinity Pool and Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein. Now, a new rumor has placed the horror breakout in Marvel’s mutant orbit as Polaris. Even a surface-level fact check, however, reveals the answer to Goth's MCU debut in Marvel’s X-Men reboot.
So, where did the Polaris rumor come from, and is there anything behind the chatter?

The latest spark came from the X account Cinemax Cave (@CinemaxCave), which claimed that Mia Goth had reportedly held conversations with Marvel Studios about playing Lorna Dane, better known as Polaris. The post also connected the rumor to Goth’s previous Marvel history, noting her association with the long-delayed Blade project and the longstanding speculation that she was playing Lilith, Dracula’s daughter.

That part of Goth’s Marvel history is real, but it does not validate the Polaris claim. Goth joined Blade in 2023, and later reporting identified her as Lilith, a role she discussed publicly while the project continued changing behind the scenes. Goth herself confirmed in 2025 that she remained attached at that point, although the film had been repeatedly reworked. There is currently no comparable trade report, Marvel announcement, or corroborating industry source confirming that she has been cast as Polaris.
That distinction matters because Marvel’s X-Men casting machine has now moved beyond the rumor mill.
Marvel has already revealed its first X-Men lineup
At D23, Marvel finally pulled the curtain back on its new X-Men ensemble, confirming Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Kit Connor as Scott Summers/Cyclops, and Inde Navarrette as Rogue. Maya Boyd as Storm, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Christopher Abbott as Professor X, and Adam Driver as Mister Sinister were also revealed. Jake Schreier is directing, with the film scheduled for May 5, 2028.

The shape of the reboot is particularly revealing. Rather than immediately rebuilding the enormous mutant roster familiar from the Fox films, Marvel is establishing a younger generation around Xavier, with Jean Grey positioned as a central entry point. Recent reporting describes the story as following a teenage Jean discovering her abilities and moving toward the formation of the X-Men.

Polaris could still enter the MCU later. Lorna is one of Marvel’s most recognizable mutant characters, particularly because of her complicated relationship with her father, Magneto, and her electromagnetic abilities. But for now, Mia Goth as Polaris belongs in the rumor column, not the confirmed-casting column.
The rumor is certainly the kind of casting that makes immediate fan-fiction sense, especially given Goth’s intense genre pedigree. Marvel, however, has not put its name behind it.
