The casting debate has taken social media by storm, with fans already throwing around names for the major roles. While Warner Bros. Discovery and HBO have confirmed the development of the film, they have remained tight-lipped about the cast.

The character in question is Visenya Targaryen, who is Aegon’s sister-wife and one of the crucial characters of the story. She has yet to appear in any live-action adaptation. Understandably, the hype is already enormous.

Game of Thrones: Aegon’s Conquest will also draw from George R. R. Martin’s Fire & Blood, taking fans much further back into Westeros’ history when the Iron Throne was created. The movie will explore the events that led to the unification of the Seven Kingdoms and three centuries of Targaryen rule. This will follow Aegon I Targaryen alongside his sister-wives, Visenya and Rhaenys Targaryen.

This will also be the first time that Aegon’s Conquest gets a live-action adaptation. So, this movie is set to be a major project in the franchise. While HBO has yet to reveal further details about the movie or its cast, House of Cards showrunner Beau Willimon has been tapped to write the screenplay. If HBO is choosing its storytellers this carefully, it certainly seems ready to make this conquest one worth watching.
