Few television partnerships captured slow burn chemistry quite like Mike Ross and Rachel Zane in Suits. Across seven seasons, Patrick J. Adams and Meghan Markle turned stolen glances, courtroom victories, and heartfelt conversations into one of the legal drama's defining relationships. Long after Rachel left Pearson Specter Litt for a new chapter in Seattle with Mike, fans have continued to imagine what life looked like for the beloved couple beyond the series finale.
That nostalgia came rushing back this week when Patrick J. Adams shared a playful Instagram Story that quickly spread across social media. Before long, headlines began suggesting that the actor had publicly declared he wanted to have babies with Meghan Markle, sending Suits fans into a frenzy.
The viral quote came from a fictional Suits spin off idea

No, Patrick J. Adams did not genuinely say that he wants to have babies with Meghan Markle. The widely shared claim originated from an Instagram Story in which Adams imagined several fictional Suits spin off concepts. While joking about ideas such as Suits Chicago and Suits NYC, he eventually landed on a hypothetical Suits Seattle, where Mike Ross and Rachel Zane would be "saving the world and making babies."
The key detail that disappeared as the post spread online is that Adams was speaking entirely about the fictional married couple from Suits, not about himself and Markle in real life. The Instagram Story was later deleted, but screenshots continued circulating.
The reality is much less dramatic. Adams and Meghan Markle have always shared a warm, professional friendship after starring together for seven seasons. Adams has been married to actress Troian Bellisario since 2016, while Markle married Prince Harry in 2018. Over the years, Adams has occasionally joked about their families having playdates together, and the pair has exchanged friendly public banter.
The deleted Story was only the beginning, because Adams soon returned with another update that offered even more insight into where his imagination was coming from.
Patrick J. Adams is still hoping for another Suits chapter
In a follow up Instagram update, Patrick J. Adams clarified that he was simply sharing his wish for the franchise's future.
"I do not know anything. As far as I can tell, the powers that be walked away after Suits LA. But seems strange not to try and get the band back together... Anyway. I am available," he wrote.
His comments reflected the same enthusiasm many longtime viewers have expressed since Suits became a streaming phenomenon years after its original run. The legal drama aired for nine seasons between 2011 and 2019, with later seasons expanding the ensemble through Amanda Schull as Katrina Bennett, Dulé Hill as Alex Williams, and Katherine Heigl as Samantha Wheeler.

The franchise has already experimented with expansion before. Pearson, centered on Jessica Pearson, lasted one season in 2019. More recently, NBC introduced Suits LA, led by Stephen Amell, Lex Scott Davis, Josh McDermitt, and Bryan Greenberg. Despite high expectations fueled by the original show's streaming resurgence, the series was canceled after its first season, leaving fans once again hoping that the original cast might someday reunite.
In the end, the viral headline does not hold up under scrutiny. Patrick J. Adams was celebrating the enduring appeal of Mike and Rachel through a fictional scenario, not making a personal declaration about Meghan Markle. Sometimes, the internet strips away the context that makes the joke work in the first place.
