If the rumors are true, Andrew Garfield could put on his Spider-Man suit once again. He has become one of the most talked-about actors rumored to return to Marvel, whether to reprise his role as Peter Parker or take on a new one. However, Garfield has not been part of the franchise over the past five years.
But questions about Garfield’s potential Marvel return and Spider-Man have followed the actor in almost every interview, with fans and reporters frequently asking him about cameo rumors or potential updates. Now, the rumor mill is buzzing again with reports that Garfield could return for more Spider-Man movies. But after several previous rumors turned out to be false, is there any truth to the latest reports of a potential Marvel deal?
Andrew Garfield all set to return as Spider-Man?
An X account, titled Chaos Crave, posted that Andrew Garfield had signed a multi-picture contract extension with Marvel, which also included his own standalone The Amazing Spider-Man 3 project. However, the bitter truth is that Chaos Crave is a parody account, and the announcement is false. Moreover, there has been no official update from either the actor or Marvel addressing the rumors.

So, as of now, it is clear that Garfield has not signed on for any new Spider-Man movies. However, there is always hope for a cameo from the actor. He first played the character in his standalone film The Amazing Spider-Man in 2012, returned for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in 2014, and later reprised the role in Spider-Man: No Way Home in 2021. As for his third standalone film, it was never made. While currently all stand as a rumour, all hope might not be lost for Garfield and Marvel.
The actor has previously revealed one condition that could convince him to return to the MCU and, most importantly, to the role of Spider-Man.
Andrew Garfield reveals condition to return to Spider-man franchise
After Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Andrew Garfield was once again in the headlines, as many claimed that the ending hinted at a new Spider-Man and that the actor could return. When asked about the rumors during his appearance on Mike DeAngelo’s The Playlist podcast, The Discourse, Garfield revealed that he had no idea about those. However, when the host urged him to share what could convince him to return to the franchise, the actor revealed one condition.
“I would need it to be very strange,” he said. “I would want it to be just completely unexpected, like a genre of Spider-Man that you’ve never seen before, that feels very left field.”

So, Garfield’s return could depend on whether Marvel can create something refreshing or unexpected for the actor. For now, however, the studio is basking in the success of its latest Spider-Man movie, which has raked in more than $2 billion at the global box office. Until there is a new update on Garfield’s potential return to the Spider-Man franchise or Marvel, the actor will likely have to continue dodging questions about the possibility.
