Jeff Goldblum will host the SNL UK Season 2 premiere on September 12, 2026. Saturday Night Live UK launched its inaugural season in March 2026, quickly establishing its own identity with British hosts, topical sketches, and live musical performances.

The format brought a familiar American comedy institution to a London stage while giving the cast room to build a distinctly British voice. Following its successful first run, the show is returning for another season.

With an internationally recognized star leading the opening night. 

That host is none other than Jeff Goldblum, the Jurassic Park and Wicked star who will kick off the new season on September 12, 2026, alongside Irish singer-songwriter CMAT as the musical guest. Speaking to Variety on a Zoom call from Italy, Goldblum expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunity.

"I'm excited and humbled and thrilled to be part of it," he said, reflecting on his third time hosting an SNL production after appearing on the US version in 1993 and 1998. Goldblum's connection to the UK runs deep, a fact he emphasized during his interview.

"I'm a big Anglophile. I've read all of P.G. Wodehouse. We recently filmed Wicked there, and I did the last Jurassic movie there," he told Variety, referencing his extensive work across British film and theater. His affection for London extends beyond film sets.

"I've spent a lot of time in London. I've done a couple of things on the West End. I'm a big fan," Goldblum added, noting his previous theater work in the city. Season 2 of SNL UK will run for six episodes before taking a break and returning in early 2027.

Goldblum will have plenty of company when he arrives in London, with a fresh comedy talent joining the ensemble for the new season.

Freddie Meredith is joining the returning ensemble for Season 2 of SNL UK after appearing in Big Boys and Such Brave Girls. The comedian recently made his Edinburgh Fringe debut with Need a Light?, which received a Best Newcomer Award nomination. His addition will be alongside returning performers including Hammed Animashaun, Ayoade Bamgboye, and a stacked cast for Season 2.

Meredith called joining the program a no-brainer, describing SNL as “the most iconic comedy show. He also said the experience would influence the rest of his career, highlighting the significance of stepping into such a recognizable comedy institution.

The series is produced by Universal Television Alternative Studio UK and Broadway Video, with Lorne Michaels serving as executive producer. Sky Unscripted chief Phil Edgar-Jones has also expressed a long-term commitment to the British adaptation, saying the network is in this for the long run.
