With Homelander finally meeting his end, The Boys has officially reached the finish line on May 20, 2026, ending its seven-year run with the finale, Blood and Bone. Packed with satire, exploding bodies, corrupt corporations, and unapologetic chaos, the series leaves behind a massive void for fans who still crave morally gray characters in plotlines packed with brutal action and razor-sharp cynical humor.
Fortunately, the superhero genre still has a few darker corners worth exploring. So, here is a list of movies you can stream to fill that cape-shaped hole in your heart after The Boys finale.
Logan (2017)

Logan is a 2017 R-rated superhero drama directed by James Mangold and starring Hugh Jackman in his final performance as Wolverine. Set in a bleak near-future where mutants are nearly extinct, the film follows an aging and exhausted Logan as he protects a young mutant girl named Laura while caring for an ailing Professor X. Instead of relying on flashy superhero spectacle, Logan embraces a darker and more grounded tone, blending brutal action with emotional storytelling and themes of loss, survival, and redemption.
Fans of The Boys would especially enjoy Logan because it strips away the glamorous superhero fantasy and focuses on the physical and emotional damage that comes with power. Its raw R-rated violence, bleak atmosphere, and emotionally heavy storytelling carry the same brutal, grounded energy that made The Boys resonate so strongly with audiences.
The Batman (2022)
Even though The Batman is a PG-13 superhero movie directed by Matt Reeves, it carries the same dark and immersive energy that made The Boys so compelling. Starring Robert Pattinson as a younger and emotionally damaged Bruce Wayne in his second year as Gotham’s vigilante, the film trades traditional comic-book spectacle for a grim detective noir atmosphere filled with corruption, violence, and psychological tension.
In the film, Batman hunts down the Riddler through the rain-soaked underbelly of Gotham City, unraveling a disturbing serial-killer mystery that feels closer to a psychological crime thriller than a typical superhero blockbuster. Much like The Boys, the movie explores the consequences of vigilantism and power instead of glorifying heroism, and critics particularly praised Pattinson’s darker and more vulnerable portrayal of Batman.
The Suicide Squad (2021)
Another R-rated superhero action comedy directed by James Gunn is The Suicide Squad, which follows a group of imprisoned supervillains forced into a deadly government mission on the chaotic island of Corto Maltese. With an impressive ensemble cast including Margot Robbie, Idris Elba, John Cena, and Daniela Melchior, the film balances an emotional story beneath all the chaos while fully embracing complete comic-book insanity, including graphic violence, dark humor, and explosive action.
The film carries the same unfiltered energy as The Boys, which fans would most definitely enjoy. James Gunn’s unapologetically violent style, fast-paced storytelling, and ability to turn a dysfunctional group of antiheroes into one of DC’s most entertaining teams are major reasons why viewers loved the movie. Packed with morally questionable characters, shocking twists and turns, brutal gore, and chaotic action, The Suicide Squad makes everything feel dangerous, even when one is just watching it.
Deadpool & Wolverine (2024)
Talking about the most unfiltered superhero movies and not mentioning Deadpool & Wolverine would honestly be a crime. This 2024 R-rated superhero action comedy directed by Shawn Levy brings together Ryan Reynolds’ chaotic Deadpool and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine in a violent multiverse adventure packed with bloody action, fourth-wall-breaking humor, and nonstop comic-book madness, making it a must-watch for all The Boys fans.
The film follows Wade Wilson as he teams up with a broken version of Wolverine for a dangerous mission that forces them to travel across the multiverse.
In the process, the movie delivers explosive fight sequences, emotional moments, brutal gore, and hilarious meta humor while also paying tribute to Marvel’s older superhero era. Even Chris Evans makes a surprising appearance, reprising his role as the Human Torch.
Watchmen: Chapter I (2024)
Based on the legendary Watchmen graphic novel by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons, Watchmen Chapter I is an R-rated animated superhero mystery film directed by Brandon Vietti. Set in an alternate 1985 America where superheroes have been outlawed, the story begins after the murder of a government-sponsored vigilante, forcing a group of retired heroes to return to a dark conspiracy that slowly threatens the entire world.
Watchmen Chapter I completely deconstructs the idea of superheroes being symbols of hope, which is exactly why The Boys fans would love this film. Instead of portraying heroes as saviors, the movie presents them as deeply flawed, emotionally damaged, and politically dangerous individuals living in a corrupt world filled with fear, manipulation, and violence.
Deadpool 2 (2018)
Deadpool 2 carries the same chaotic and unfiltered energy, filled with graphic violence, dark comedy, cynical humor, and morally messy characters that the Deadpool franchise is known for. This R-rated superhero action-comedy directed by David Leitch follows Wade Wilson as he tries to protect a troubled young mutant named Russell from Cable, a dangerous time-traveling soldier played by Josh Brolin.
Although the film is filled with insanity, gore, dark comedy, and cynical humor, it focuses much more on emotional storytelling and the idea of found family, which makes everything feel wildly unpredictable. Much like The Boys, the film constantly mocks superhero clichés instead of glorifying them, presenting superheroes in a satirical and brutally self-aware manner.
Dredd (2012)
Dredd stars Karl Urban, who is widely known among The Boys fans for playing Billy Butcher, in the role of Judge Dredd in this 2012 R-rated science-fiction superhero action film directed by Pete Travis, making it an important watch for all the die-hard fans of The Boys. Set in the violent dystopian wasteland of Mega-City One, the story begins when Dredd and a rookie psychic Judge named Anderson get trapped inside a massive crime-ridden tower controlled by the ruthless drug lord Ma-Ma.
Filled with brutal gunfights, graphic violence, gritty worldbuilding, and intense slow-motion action sequences, the film fully embraces its dark comic-book roots, while Karl Urban delivers one of his coldest and most ruthless performances as Dredd, giving the movie an antihero edge that feels very similar to Billy Butcher’s energy in The Boys.
Man Of Steel (2013)
One of the biggest reasons The Boys fans should watch Man of Steel is that Homelander himself is heavily inspired by Superman. From the godlike powers and laser vision to the patriotic imagery, cape, and public savior persona, Homelander was essentially created as a dark parody of Superman. That is exactly what makes Man of Steel such an interesting watch after The Boys, because it reminds viewers what it actually feels like to believe in a genuinely good superhero again.
Directed by Zack Snyder, this 2013 PG-13 superhero action film stars Henry Cavill as Clark Kent, who struggles to understand his alien identity while trying to find his place on Earth. But when General Zod arrives threatening humanity’s survival, Clark is forced to embrace his destiny as Superman while dealing with the fear and destruction his powers can bring.
Deadpool (2016)
Unlike the other Deadpool movies, Deadpool is the origin story of Wade Wilson, packed with pure dark comedy and chaotic R-rated superhero action. Directed by Tim Miller, the film follows a wisecracking former mercenary who gains accelerated healing powers after undergoing a brutal experimental treatment. However, the procedure leaves him physically scarred, leading Wilson to adopt the identity of Deadpool as he hunts down the man responsible while also trying to reunite with his girlfriend Vanessa.
Deadpool himself feels less like a polished superhero and more like a reckless antihero who causes almost as much destruction as the villains around him, which gives the movie the same unpredictable energy and morally messy tone that The Boys fans usually love. The movie completely changed the superhero genre in 2016 by proving comic-book films could be unapologetically R-rated, violent, self-aware, and wildly unfiltered.
Joker (2019)
Joker is one of the most emotionally devastating psychological superhero thrillers directed by Todd Phillips. The film follows Arthur Fleck, a struggling clown and failed stand-up comedian living in a broken and crime-ridden Gotham City. Centered around one of the most iconic supervillains in comic-book history, the movie shows how Arthur is constantly ignored, humiliated, and pushed aside by society, which slowly spirals him into madness after a series of traumatic events eventually transform him into the Joker.

Much like Homelander in The Boys, Arthur Fleck becomes terrifying not because he is superhuman, but because the world around him slowly turns him into something monstrous. That psychological descent is exactly what would keep The Boys fans hooked and constantly on the edge of their seats.
These movies should definitely be on your watchlist if you are already missing The Boys after its explosive ending.
