Every 'Lanterns' Character Who Could Return in the DCU- And Where You’ll See Them Next

Lanterns may have solved its biggest mystery, but the DCU has hardly finished playing with its Green Lanterns. The HBO Max series closed its first season with Hal Jordan’s death finally explained, John Stewart claiming a power ring of his own, and Guy Gardner flying off to handle the wider galaxy. Meanwhile, Sinestro, Noah Macon, and Kerry Kane were all left with stories that could easily continue.
While Season 2 has not been announced, some characters already have a confirmed DCU destination.
John Stewart
If there is one Lanterns character fans can count on seeing again, it is John Stewart. Aaron Pierre’s rookie Lantern spends the season wrestling with the responsibility of the ring before finally accepting the mantle on his own terms. By the finale, he has become an independent Green Lantern protecting Earth.

His next confirmed appearance is Man of Tomorrow, the upcoming Superman sequel starring David Corenswet. Pierre is set to reprise John, making the movie the first confirmed continuation of his Lanterns journey. The film is scheduled for July 9, 2027.
Guy Gardner
Nathan Fillion’s Guy Gardner is also heading straight into Man of Tomorrow. The character technically remains the official Green Lantern assigned to Sector 2814, while John has essentially created his own Earth-based version of the job.

That arrangement could make for a particularly entertaining reunion. The Lanterns finale ends with Guy telling John, “This ain’t over, hot shot,” before flying away. John’s response—“Oh, I hope not”—pretty much says everything about where their relationship could go next.
With both Lanterns confirmed for Man of Tomorrow, fans will not have to wait for a hypothetical Season 2 to see them share the screen again.
Sinestro
Ulrich Thomsen’s Sinestro is one of the biggest question marks left hanging after the finale. Once Hal’s former mentor and friend, Sinestro ends the season stranded on a mysterious planet after helping John create a new Lantern. And that is precisely why his story feels far from finished.

Sinestro has already demonstrated that he can create a power source using both will and fear, giving the DCU a potentially important bridge toward the character’s comic-book history as the founder of the Sinestro Corps. The finale never confirms what he will do next, leaving his future wide open.
There is no confirmed next appearance for Thomsen’s Sinestro yet, but if Lanterns returns, he has one of the most obvious storylines waiting for him.
Noah Macon
Shea Pritchard’s Noah Macon might actually be the biggest wildcard in the entire Green Lantern corner of the DCU. The finale confirms that Noah is a Manhunter-human hybrid, but unlike the murderous Manhunters of the past, he has developed something they were never supposed to possess: a conscience. He even saved Hal Jordan’s life using Manhunter technology before eventually helping John understand what he is.
John ultimately chooses not to kill Noah, despite Noah asking him to do so because he fears what his programming could make him become. John instead warns that if Noah ever loses control, someone will have to stop him.

That makes Noah an obvious candidate for a future storyline—whether as an unlikely ally, a tragic antagonist or something much more complicated. For now, however, there is no confirmed project where he will appear next.
Kerry Kane
Kelly Macdonald’s Kerry Kane has perhaps the most personal unfinished story. The sheriff is revealed to be the person who actually killed Hal Jordan after discovering the truth about Noah and trying to protect him.
But Kerry's story doesn't end with the confession. Showrunner Chris Mundy has specifically indicated that her mysterious past was intentionally left open, meaning there is more to discover about the woman who spent years protecting Noah and hiding his true identity.

There is currently no announced next appearance for Kerry, but her unresolved history makes her one of the characters most naturally positioned for a Lanterns Season 2 return if HBO gives the series another chapter.
The Manhunters
The Manhunters mythology could ultimately become bigger than any individual character. Zoe Macon is gone, but her legacy survives through Noah, whose existence proves that the supposedly extinct race has left behind something far more complicated than a simple villain.
The finale also makes the Manhunters part of John's future problem. He knows Noah is capable of overcoming his programming—but he also knows there is no guarantee that he always will.

That gives the DCU an intriguing long-term conflict: Can a being created to enforce absolute justice learn to choose what is right for himself? If Lanterns continues, Noah could be the key to answering that question.
Hal Jordan's chapter may be over, but John Stewart, Guy Gardner, and the strange new mythology surrounding them are only getting started, with a possible season 2 in the works already.
