Amidst the layoffs that are reportedly infesting Disney, actress Evangeline Lilly has voiced her opinion on the whole thing. She has further emphasized the need to pay attention to the plight of the creators within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Through her video, she also raised awareness about the plague named AI and its future effects on artists in movies.
After the news went viral, Marvel’s Ant-Man and the Wasp lead reached out to Andy Park, who created the original Wasp super suit, for confirmation. She further reprimanded AI and said that she could not quite believe that Disney had let go of the artists who helped bring the current MCU to life. Lily then added that those who created and designed the characters were now being replaced by AI.
“AI that will take their designs and take what those artists created and use it to create iterations of that. I am so sorry, Andy, and I am so sorry to every single one of the artists who were let go in the 1,000 artists that Disney fired, and particularly the entire team at Marvel, who have been considered obsolete now, after building the Marvel Empire,” the actress expressed.
Having been a part of the MCU herself, Lilly emphasized that fans of these productions should stand in solidarity with the artists and visual experts who have been let go in favor of the new-world technology. She asserted the fact that Marvel was essentially built on "human creations," and that the new mechanisms capitalizing on them are "disgusting and horrible."
As layoffs at Disney hit hard across divisions, including Marvel Studios, Evangeline Lilly’s remarks bring fresh attention to the impact on the visual development team.

Marvel is one section that has been severely impacted by this decision. Employees from both New York and Burbank are being let go from most departments within the company, including film and TV production, comics, franchise, finance, and legal.
