In showbiz, strange comparisons appear when you least expect them to. Case in point: the gritty teen fever dream Euphoria getting compared to the relentless conflict spectacle of Leonardo DiCaprio’s One Battle After Another. At first, it may sound like apples versus asteroid impacts, but both share a theme dear to drama lovers, which is battling one fight after another without a commercial break in life. But despite everything, what intersects them through filming technicalities might be even more interesting.

While Euphoria's visual strife was no less than a battle cry, it was yet to unsheathe a film reel that went shoulder to shoulder with the blockbusters.

Slated for a spring 2026 debut, Euphoria season 3 has been advertised as a shift in gears with a time jump catapulting characters into the wild world beyond high school. What has morphed into a subject of even bigger excitement are the VistaVision formatted aesthetics the third season has been told to be sporting, as per what Jacob Elordi told Soap Central. The entire season will be a product of being shot on a 65mm film, the very one that high-profile projects like The Brutalist, Dune: Part Two, and most recently, offering post-strife gratification, the Leonardo DiCaprio-starring One Battle After Another.

With this revelation via Soap Central, the gritty, noir-like touches to the visuals that Euphoria’s third season is going to be portraying as Rue Bennett's narration bleeds into adulthood is turning out to be the cinematic nod towards the harrows of Bob Furgeson that DiCaprio painted with his acting in One Battle After Another. As always, the emotional intensity in Euphoria has been turned up several notches, spotlighting the endless rollercoaster of personal and societal clashes as the third season rolls in.

Euphoria's season three also shakes up the cast quite a bit into a fresh yet seasoned, updated roster. Name that tag the show, like Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, and Alexa Demie return, but a few familiar faces have also bowed out, making way for fresh talent like Natasha Lyonne, Danielle Deadwyler, and others. With production wrapped in early 2025, and HBO Max holding the exclusive streaming rights, stylish storytelling and a soundtrack that whispers battle hymns have more than ensured that the viewers stay glued.
