‘Euphoria’ Season 3 Episode 2 Recap: ‘It’ Girls of East Highland Reunites for Business

Published 04/20/2026, 10:10 PM EDT

The world of Euphoria is slowly unfolding. Episode 1 set the stage for Rue’s involvement in the criminal world, driven partly by the need to settle old debts and partly to find somewhere, or someone, to anchor herself to. The next episode builds on that foundation. The stakes rise not just externally, but internally too, as Rue inches closer to a life that is becoming harder to step away from.

After Rue’s near-miraculous escape from death in the premiere, the show now brings back the infamous East Highland alumni fans have been waiting for.

From Maddy’s power era and reunion with Cassie to Jules’ sugar baby turn, episode 2 wastes no time in letting the drama loose.

Cassie and Maddy are back, older but just as chaotic

The episode opens with a pan into Maddy’s post–high school life. Although she never went to college, her confidence more than made up for it. She walks into a diner, approaches Penzler, a Hollywood talent manager, and boldly declares that even if she is not hiring, Maddy is exactly the assistant she needs. Somehow, it works. She is hired. But settling has never been her style. Being “just an assistant” doesn’t cut it. Enter Cassie.

Cassie, desperate to grow her OF career, turns to Maddy for guidance. Although the former dresses it up as an attempt to reconcile, Maddy does not buy the act. It quickly becomes clear to her that Cassie's conscience is as fragile as her self-worth. Nonetheless, Maddy decides to help, albeit with a cryptic smirk on her face. Friends off-screen or not, their on-screen frenemy energy is still going strong.

At the same time, hints of family trauma, abandonment, and tangled emotional threads emerge, alongside an emotional appearance from Eric Dane.

Eric Dane’s First Look in 'Euphoria' Season 3 Trailer Leaves Fans Teary-Eyed

Dane makes his first posthumous Euphoria 3 appearance as Cal in this episode, following the tribute in the premiere.

Every home in Euphoria carries its own fractures

Cal pops in midway through the episode for what starts off as a surprisingly calm visit with Nate. They are in Nate’s kitchen, and for once, the usual blow-up energy from Seasons 1 and 2 is nowhere to be found. Cal shows up in high spirits, singing, no less, and casually drops that he has been going to SLA meetings (S** and Love Addicts).

But the calm does not last. The moment he brings up Cassie’s OF stint, pinning it on Nate’s shaky finances, the mood takes a turn. What starts as a low-key conversation quickly goes sideways, and before long, it spirals into an argument.

We also get a flashback of Rue trying to find her way back home, reaching out to her family only to hit a wall. It is clear they are not ready to let her back in, so she ends up at Jules’ door. Jules, now a sugar baby, is living in a sleek, fancy apartment. Both of them feel like they have landed in lives they did not quite choose, which makes their reunion hit a little deeper. And the way the episode wraps up, it is pretty obvious the two are about to find their way back to each other.
