Reacher season 4 splits critics down the middle. Expectations for the new season of the beloved action thriller series on Amazon Prime were already sky-high following the critical acclaim of its previous three installments. However, the pressure on Reacher's fourth run was further exacerbated by a fifth season already receiving a green light before its release and the Neagley spinoff scheduled for later in 2026. Now, when the season is finally released, the end product does not really seem to have matched the anticipation for some.

The new season has divided the critics, with people either hailing or hating the fourth installment.

On Rotten Tomatoes, the most recent season of Prime Video's popular action drama, Reacher, has an overall positive reviewer score of 87% currently, which is lower than prior seasons, but reviews are still coming in, and the status might change soon enough. Interestingly, though, opinions on whether the fourth season has hit a home run or struck out completely are divided among some of the reviews. 

However, almost all the reviews echo the fact that star Alan Ritchson continues to be as captivating as freewheeling ex-military strongman Jack Reacher. He is once again entangled with villains who consistently undervalue his nearly superhuman capacity to beat up ruffians. And in this new adventure from showrunner Nick Santora (this time adapting author Lee Child's Gone Tomorrow), Reacher's bone-dry and hyperliteral humor is charming as always.

While some reviewers are busy celebrating a strong comeback after a lacklustre third installment, some criticised it for following the same formula, making things a bit mundane and stale. Most of them did not like the writing and how convoluted the narrative becomes towards the end of the series. These criticisms were the exact opposite of the positive reviews, which appreciated the writing and the execution of the adaptation from the source material.

The consensus was further unanimous on more points that, for many, were the highlight of the season. 

There was a unanimous appreciation of the action that the series has been executing since season 1. Amazon Prime Video has once again understood the assignment very well and given the fans what they really came for. Reacher is a title that warrants adrenaline-pumping action, and season 4 meets that requirement in the grandest way possible.

Reacher has always had a lot of adrenaline, but it really picks up speed in this one. In addition to the fistfights, season four features more emphasis on blades, thrilling aerial work, and skillful driving maneuvers. Season 4 of Reacher is a razor-sharp scalpel, taking additional care to create set pieces that viewers have not seen anywhere else. And to top it all off, the season has a phenomenal ensemble cast that takes care of the rest of the scenes.
