With only two episodes left before The Boys explodes into its Season 5 finale, creator Eric Kripke has finally broken the silence on how the series pulled off Samuel L. Jackson’s insane cameo as Xander. Since storming Prime Video with nearly 4.1 million viewers per episode during its explosive launch, the franchise has only grown louder, bloodier, and more culturally chaotic with every passing season. From savage superhero satire to Emmy-recognised acclaim, including an Outstanding Drama Series nomination in 2021, The Boys has long mastered the art of turning complete madness into television gold.
And now, as the finale chaos inches dangerously closer, The Boys has once again dragged audiences into another completely unhinged moment fans cannot stop talking about.

Opening up about the now-viral cameo of Samuel L. Jackson, Eric Kripke revealed that the team wanted a voice impossible to miss for Xander, the furious hammerhead shark crashing into The Boys’ latest chaos. That instantly pushed Jackson to the top of their wishlist. Kripke admitted they simply took a gamble by contacting Jackson’s agent, only to discover the Hollywood icon already loved the series and enthusiastically agreed, with the creator later calling the experience of hearing “Sam Jackson reading your dialogue” a genuine bucket-list moment.
" He was our first choice, and we were like, ‘Does he want to do this?’ It was really just taking a flyer. But then it came back, Oh yeah, he likes the show and totally, he’ll do it. Boy, that’s a bucket list moment, man, of Sam Jackson reading your dialogue.” Kripke told Polygon.
Xander first entered the season as The Deep’s savage underwater ally during the hunt for A-Train. However, the furious hammerhead soon returned with revenge on his mind after the devastating pipeline disaster wiped out massive ocean life. The absurd cameo also continues The Boys’ growing obsession with bizarre celebrity voice appearances after Tilda Swinton previously voiced The Deep’s octopus lover Ambrosius in Season 4. Now, with the explosive Season 5 finale storming into special 4DX screenings on May 19 before hitting streaming the following day, The Boys appears fully ready to unleash one final wave of complete madness.
And as the shark-fuelled madness still has two more episodes left to roll into its ultimate destiny, is Season 5 about to drag The Boys into its darkest endgame yet?
What to expect from The Boys Season 5 finale chaos?
The Boys Season 5 is no longer simply playing with superhero satire. The final chapter has now spiralled into a full apocalyptic war between Supes and humanity as Homelander tightens his grip across America after unlocking the terrifying V1 version of Compound V, making Billy Butcher’s deadly supe virus nearly useless against him. With the eight-episode final season racing toward the finale episode, Blood and Bone on May 20, 2026, creator Eric Kripke appears fully committed to dragging the franchise into a brutal endgame where absolutely nobody feels safe anymore.

The final season has also detonated through devastating deaths, crossover chaos, and massive streaming domination. Frenchie’s heartbreaking death in Kimiko’s arms instantly became one of the series’ darkest emotional blows, while Supernatural stars Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins entered the madness alongside Gen V crossover characters joining Annie January’s resistance. Meanwhile, Season 5 continues smashing streaming charts with nearly 899 million viewing minutes during launch week alone.
And as The Boys storms toward its blood-soaked finale, Samuel L. Jackson’s bizarre shark cameo may only be the beginning of the madness still waiting beneath the surface.
