Emily Blunt has built one of the most versatile careers of her generation, moving from The Devil Wears Prada and The Young Victoria to action-heavy turns in Edge of Tomorrow. She has also found dramatic precision in films such as The Girl on the Train and Oppenheimer, while A Quiet Place gave her another defining franchise role. Now, after The Devil Wears Prada 2 and Disclosure Day, her next chapter is shaping up to be just as varied.
From franchise returns to a Netflix literary adaptation and a Martin Scorsese crime drama, Blunt has some fascinating choices ahead. For an actress who can move from Miranda Priestly territory to the brutal corridors of Sicario without losing her screen presence, the lineup invites some speculation about where she goes next. Here is what is currently known about Emily Blunt's upcoming projects.
Sicario 3

Emily Blunt is also heading back into the morally murky world of Sicario. She will reprise FBI agent Kate Macer alongside Benicio del Toro and Josh Brolin, marking her return to the franchise after sitting out 2018's Sicario: Day of the Soldado. The third film is being directed by Padraic McKinley from a script by Steven Knight.

TheWrap reported on October 5, 2026, that Sicario 3 is moving forward with Blunt, del Toro and Brolin all returning. The film will be directed by Padraic McKinley, whose feature directorial debut The Weight premiered at Sundance earlier this year, while Steven Knight is writing the screenplay. The project has gone through several versions over the years, with Christopher McQuarrie and Erik Jendresen previously attached to an earlier draft before Knight came aboard. Plot details are still being kept under wraps, but production is slated to begin in early 2027.
But Kate Macer is not the only familiar character Blunt is stepping back into. Her upcoming slate also has her returning to a very different kind of danger, one where silence can be just as deadly as a gunshot.
A Quiet Place Part III
Emily Blunt is returning as Evelyn Abbott for A Quiet Place Part III, bringing her back into the post-apocalyptic world that became one of the most important franchises of her career. John Krasinski is once again writing and directing, with Cillian Murphy, Millicent Simmonds and Noah Jupe also returning. Production began in May 2026, and the film is currently scheduled for July 30, 2027.

The project has been building for years, but its return became much more tangible when Krasinski confirmed the production and the returning cast. Blunt has previously joked about the physical demands of the franchise, which makes Evelyn's next chapter especially interesting after everything the character has endured.
Walk the Blue Fields
Emily Blunt's next project takes her considerably further from blockbuster territory. Walk the Blue Fields is a romantic drama based on Claire Keegan's work, with Blunt starring opposite Andrew Scott and producing through her Ledbury Productions. John Crowley directs from a screenplay by Conor McPherson. The story follows a woman whose wedding day is disrupted when a relationship from her past threatens to resurface.
Filming took place in Ireland earlier in 2026, and the Netflix film is now in post-production without an announced release date.
Untitled Martin Scorsese crime drama
Then there is the project that gives Emily Blunt's upcoming slate a serious auteur pedigree. Martin Scorsese is attached to direct an untitled Hawaii-set crime drama starring Blunt alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Dwayne Johnson, based on a real Hawaiian crime figure and set around the islands' organized-crime world of the 1960s and 1970s.
The project was first reported in February 2025, when Variety revealed that Blunt and Johnson had taken the idea to Scorsese and DiCaprio. 20th Century later picked up the package, with Nick Bilton writing the screenplay.
That leaves one especially intriguing possibility for fans who remember Blunt's chemistry with Tom Cruise.
Edge of Tomorrow 2
Edge of Tomorrow 2 remains the least certain title on the list. Emily Blunt's Rita Vrataski is one of her most recognizable action roles, and the long-discussed sequel continues to sit in development, with her return still described as rumored rather than confirmed.

For now, it belongs firmly in the “watch this space” category rather than the confirmed-slate column. Still, after A Quiet Place Part III and Sicario 3, another collision with Rita would make for a very fitting addition to Blunt's action-movie comeback.
Emily Blunt's upcoming slate therefore has a little of everything: horror, crime, literary drama, prestige filmmaking and a possible return to one of her most beloved action characters.
