Elon Musk recently shared a new video featuring bloopers from The Odyssey scenes created using Grok Imagine, the AI video-generation tool developed by xAI. Slowly built through a series of additions, iterations, and partnerships, Grok Imagine is the current version of xAI's image-generation tool, FLUX.1, which was launched in August 2024 inside the Grok-2 chatbot. Today, Musk is pulling all the stops to make its presence and capabilities known, even if it requires contending with Christopher Nolan's Homeric adaptation that has been years in the making.
While the original AI clips aimed for epic storytelling, the bloopers reveal a much funnier side of the technology.
Grok Imagine’s The Odyssey outtakes turn ancient Greece into comedy
Weeks after the release of Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, Elon Musk has dropped his two cents on what the behind-the-scenes of the movie would look like. He shared a blooper reel featuring a collection of moments where scenes from a hypothetical Homeric adaptation go hilariously off course. Characters appear to lose track of conversations, facial expressions shift unexpectedly, and dramatic sequences suddenly become unintentionally comedic.
The video arrives amid Musk's continued push to showcase Grok Imagine's capabilities. In recent weeks, the billionaire has repeatedly promoted AI-generated footage of The Odyssey and even claimed that Grok Imagine could eventually create a full-length adaptation of Homer's epic poem.

The post also arrives after Musk's earlier comments about using Grok Imagine to create a full-length version of The Odyssey, which he said would be "historically accurate" and faithful to Homer's original text, according to The Guardian. Interest in the project has continued to grow alongside the success of Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey, with Musk frequently sharing AI-generated interpretations of scenes from the ancient Greek epic and discussing the technology's potential for future storytelling.
The bloopers come as Musk continues talking about much bigger plans for the Homeric epic.
Why Elon Musk’s AI Odyssey experiment keeps drawing attention
Elon Musk's blooper reel is just the latest chapter in his ongoing fascination with Homer's legendary tale. Over the past several months, he has repeatedly used Grok Imagine to generate scenes inspired by Homer's Odyssey, showcasing both the technology's capabilities and its occasional quirks. Musk has also weighed in on broader conversations surrounding modern adaptations of the epic, including backing viral criticism of Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey.
With each new clip, the project continues to spark conversations about the future of AI-generated entertainment and how close the technology is to creating feature-length stories.
The concept has gained additional attention as audiences continue discussing new adaptations of Homer's classic story. While traditional filmmakers rely on large casts, elaborate sets, and years of production, Musk has suggested that AI tools could eventually offer a very different approach to bringing ancient epics to life. Whether viewers see that future as exciting or controversial, the Odyssey experiments have become a showcase for both the promise and the current limitations of AI-generated filmmaking.
For now, however, fans seem just as entertained by the mistakes as by the finished product. The latest blooper reel offers a reminder that even artificial intelligence is not immune to a few on-set mishaps.
Would you watch a fully AI-generated version of Odyssey, or are the bloopers more entertaining than the movie itself? Let us know in the comments.
