Dwayne Johnson has convincingly transformed into a 70-year-old man, almost as magically as the world of the film he is starring in. The actor and former WWE professional wrestler previously stunned his fans with his transformation to play Mark Kerr in The Smashing Machine. He gained weight and wore prosthetics to play the former MMA fighter.
Now, Johnson is back with another jaw-dropping transformation for his next film. This time, the actor takes on the appearance of an elderly man, as seen in new glimpses from the set of Lizard Music.
Dwayne Johnson’s impressive transformation for Lizard Music
Dwayne Johnson is filming his upcoming movie Lizard Music, directed by Benny Safdie. The actor took on the role of the Chicken Man, a 70-year-old character whose appearance required the 54-year-old star to look almost twice his age. With the help of prosthetics, a white beard, and makeup, the makeup team transformed Johnson into a much older man.

Johnson was spotted filming in a tan bucket hat and a white coat, holding a slice of pizza as he walked alongside Theo Clark Leber. For this transformation, Safdie has reunited with Kazu Hiro, the makeup artist behind The Smashing Machine. Hiro is also known for creating Tom Cruise’s elderly look in Digger and Jim Carrey’s iconic Grinch appearance in How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
Johnson also revealed that he had lost 30 pounds to play Chicken Man in the film during his appearance at the 2025 Toronto Film Festival. During his conversation, he also praised the film and the director. The actor added that it did not take much long for him to agree to sign up for the film.
“I’m so excited to get a chance to hopefully transform again like I was able to do in ‘Smashing Machine,’” Johnson said. “[It means] eating less chicken.”
