The massively popular Yellowstone universe has now entered a level of success that even longtime fans may not have expected. Currently airing on Paramount+, Dutton Ranch launched as the biggest series premiere in the platform’s history, with Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler beginning their new life in South Texas after purchasing fresh land in the opening episodes released on May 15. And now, with ratings exploding during its debut run, the drama is quickly becoming viewers’ latest evening obsession.

But while Beth and Rip may have left Montana behind, the Dutton empire clearly is not slowing down.

According to Paramount+ internal data, the May 15 premiere pulled in a massive 12.9 million global views within just seven days, instantly making it the platform’s biggest original series launch ever. The explosive debut now places the Yellowstone spinoff right beside Taylor Sheridan’s other powerhouse hit, Landman, whose season 2 premiere opened with 9.2 million views in three days. The drama also managed to beat the March debut numbers of The Madison, further proving the Sheridan universe still owns streaming attention.

And the momentum inside the United States looks just as huge. Early Nielsen numbers reportedly place Dutton Ranch on track to become the most-watched original streaming series for the week of May 11–17, averaging around 7.25 million viewers on Paramount+ during its first three days alone. The series also delivered strong cable ratings after premiering on Paramount Network, where it pulled 2.9 million viewers across three days. Out of that, episode one alone brought in 1.9 million viewers, giving cable television its strongest new series debut since Hallmark’s Ride in 2023.

‘Dutton Ranch’ Actors Admit They Never Worked With Taylor Sheridan Directly

And with the Sheridan universe once again swallowing streaming charts whole, fans are now rushing to keep up with every new chapter unfolding inside Dutton Ranch.

Dutton Ranch still has plenty of chaos left to unfold

Dutton Ranch is only getting wilder from here. The first season consists of nine episodes, and after exploding onto Paramount+ with its two-episode premiere on May 15, the series has continued dropping new chaos-filled chapters every Friday, with Episode 4 arriving May 29 and the finale locked for July 3. After Beth and Rip’s risky South Texas land move already ignited fresh rivalries and tension, the storm surrounding the Dutton legacy is clearly just beginning. The drama stars Kelly Reilly, Cole Hauser, Finn Little, Annette Bening, Ed Harris, Jai Courtney and several more major names powering Taylor Sheridan’s ever-growing television empire.  But behind the massive streaming success, the Yellowstone universe has also carried plenty of off-screen chaos.

The franchise faced a highly publicised fallout after Kevin Costner’s scheduling dispute with creator Taylor Sheridan reportedly stalled production for nearly two years before the actor eventually exited the series. At the same time, Paramount’s complicated streaming rights battle with Peacock also forced the studio to continue the franchise under the new Dutton Ranch title, allowing Paramount+ to finally regain direct control of one of television’s biggest modern empires, filmed mainly in Ferris, a small Texas town.

And as Dutton Ranch continues charging through streaming charts at full speed, viewers are now eagerly waiting to see what chaos, rivalries, and power moves explode inside the Dutton world next Friday.
