‘Don’t Breathe 3’ Gets Major Update as Fede Álvarez Confirms He Has Written the Script

Fede Álvarez recently confirmed Don't Breathe part 3. A horror film purely relying on suspense and silence. No gore. No blood. No shock value. Director Álvarez, who has worked on a splatter like Evil Dead reboot, took a massive gamble with the nerve-shredding Don't Breathe that capitalized on an audience tired of standard horror clichés. And now a decade since the 2016 movie, there are talks of a third installment brewing up.
Not only is the third installment officially underway, a major character is returning as well.
Don't Breathe 3 has a script ready
During a special screening of the original movie at Beyond Fest, the creator and writer Fede Álvarez revealed that the third film of the franchise is officially in the pipeline, with the script written as well. As reported by Dread Central, Jane Levy and Stephen Lang are also reprising their roles as Rocky and The Blind Man / Norman Nordstrom, respectively. The reunion has only heightened anticipation for the third film, especially after Rocky was noticeably absent from the second installment.

Don't Breathe 3, one of the best thrillers on Netflix, is expected to reunite the surviving original characters, as per Dread Central, and address their unfinished business nearly a decade after the events of the 2016 first film. However, it remains unconfirmed whether he will be directing the third film or hand it off to a collaborator like he did with part 2, which had performed moderately at both the box office and among critics.
Don't Breathe 2 failed to recreate the impact of its predecessor for a very polarizing character pivot.

Don't Breathe 3 was set eight years later from the events of the first film. The Blind Man is now living in isolation and raising a young orphaned girl. After the girl is snatched by a group of merciless criminals, Norman embarks on a bloody mission to bring her home.

Fans hated the attempt to turn Norman from a brutal kidnapper and r***** into a sympathetic anti-hero. The sequel also switched the horror genre to an action-thriller which further added to the backlash. Don't Breathe part 2 earned $53.8 million worldwide, which was a massive step down from the first film’s $157 million. It scored a much lower rating on Rotten Tomatoes too, with 43% score, compared to the original's 88%.
