Disney is preparing hours of 9/11 commemorative coverage across ABC, Disney Plus, National Geographic, and more, giving its entertainment empire a decidedly solemn appointment with history. That arrives as Disney Plus readies an unusually busy lineup of anticipated titles, from Camp Rock 3 and Travis Barker: Louder Than Fear to FX’s The Shards, making the timing particularly notable.

Amid that entertainment parade, Disney is preparing to play a very different card with its expansive 9/11 commemoration this year.

Disney is preparing an expansive 9/11 commemoration as the attacks approach their 25th anniversary, with ABC News, National Geographic, Disney+, Hulu, ABC local stations, and ABC News Live all joining the coverage, as per Variety. The programming will honor the courage and resilience of survivors, witnesses, and first responders while revisiting the tragedy’s lasting impact.

The centerpiece will be a live national broadcast from ABC News and WABC-TV New York, alongside a new National Geographic documentary exploring stories connected to September 11. Disney has also worked with the 9/11 Memorial & Museum on portions of its editorial programming, adding historical context and firsthand perspectives to the anniversary coverage.

The series focuses on first responders and witnesses before bringing them together with people they helped or encountered that day. Each episode will arrive on Disney+ and Hulu the day after its linear television broadcast as revealed by Variety.
