Before Deadpool, Ryan Reynolds acted in another superhero movie in 2009 that starred Succession and Home Alone actor Kieran Culkin.

Did You Know Before ‘Deadpool’ Ryan Reynolds Was a Superhero in This Film With ‘Succession’ Actor Kieran Culkin?

As the latest season of Succession nears us, it also brings the reminder of an
old Ryan Reynolds [https://netflixjunkie.com/tag/ryan-reynolds/] superhero
movie. The connection between the two is rather unexpected and surprising, one
that not many people may be aware of. But what connects them is one of its
talented cast members that starred alongside the Deadpool actor in the 2009
superhero movie.

Deadpool is one of the biggest Marvel movies today, a stark difference from the
actor’s previous superhero movie Green Lantern. But other than playing the lead
in these two action flicks, there was one forgotten movie where Reynolds began
his journey to play the hero. Doubling the fun with him was the Home Alone actor
amongst other star members.

THE 2009 FORGOTTEN SUPERHERO MOVIE OF RYAN REYNOLDS AND KIERAN CULKIN

While fans remain excited to see Ryan Reynolds return for Deadpool 3, there is
another movie that one can go back to. It still has the comical magic of the
actor with a unique yet heartwarming plot. The 2009 flick was named Paper Man,
known as Unlikely Man in some regions. This storyline has both Reynolds and
Kieran Culkin playing the role of imaginary friends, highlighting their skilled
sense of humor.

Kieran and Michele Mulroney directed the movie, and it also casts Emma Stone,
Lisa Kudrow, Jeff Daniels, etc. It is about a writer who goes away for a while
to help his writer’s block. There he forms an unlikely father-daughter sort of
friendship with a college-going girl. Both of them have imaginary friends but
learn to leave that dependency slowly.

The movie was rather simple and heartwarming but was forgotten amongst the other
successful projects done by both Culkin and Reynolds.

WHAT ARE THE TWO ACTORS UP TO NOW?

Ryan Reynolds is currently trying to pace up the shoots of Deadpool 3

although the merc-with-a-mouth may be temporarily silenced by the writer’s
strike. They recently announced that another Succession star Matthew Macfadyen
will be joining the Marvel movie.

Kieran Culkin, on the other hand, has made a big return and is out of the mold
of being known as the “Home Alone” kid. He plays the role of Roman Roy in
Succession, which even won him the Critics Choice Television Award in 2022.
While their movie together may have been forgotten, their career certainly
continued to take off in the following years.
