The Boys season 5 came with the ominous warning that danger was looming over every character. One such character was The Deep, who had nearly survived it all through the last five seasons of the show but was eventually k***** in the final episode. From the very beginning of the final season, the series shocked viewers with the deaths of several fan-favorite and major characters, starting as early as episode 1.

The much-anticipated finale episode remained true to the warning and ended on an explosive note with several major deaths. So, here is a look at all the major deaths from the series.

The Deep

The Deep, although often used as comic relief in The Boys, was not much different from the other ruthless Supes. Throughout the series, he committed several crimes and atrocities before finally facing the consequences in one of the most brutal deaths in the show. During a fight with Starlight, she blasted him in the ocean.

That is when the marine life turns against him. An octopus tentacle wrapped around him and burst through his mouth, k***** him. This is different from the comics, where The Deep survives and joins a new superhero team called True.

Homelander

Homelander’s death had been one of the most anticipated moments of The Boys, with fans waiting five seasons to see it happen. After being hit by Kimiko’s Soldier Boy blast, both Homelander and Billy Butcher lose their abilities. While Butcher remains formidable even without his powers, the same cannot be said for Homelander.

Realizing his situation, Homelander desperately begs Butcher for his life. Without much hesitation, Butcher swings his crowbar and brutally k**** Homelander. It took quite some time, but the long-running rivalry finally came to an end.

Billy Butcher

Unsurprisingly to the comic readers, Billy Butcher meets a tragic end in the finale of The Boys after discovering the body of his beloved dog, Terror. In his rage, he decides that all Supes must die and releases the Supe virus through the sprinkler system. Hughie tries to stop him, leading to a brutal confrontation between the two longtime allies.

As Butcher prepares to land the final blow, Hughie reminds him of his younger brother, Lenny, causing Butcher to hesitate for a moment. The brief distraction gives Hughie enough time to grab a nearby gun and shoot Butcher. While Hughie regrets the situation, Butcher tells him not to blame himself.

Oh Father

Oh Father dies after MM (Mother’s Milk) k**** him during their confrontation. As Oh Father prepares to use his power, MM quickly gags him before he can use it. That leads to Oh Father’s head to explode, leading to his death.

Terror

Terror’s passing could arguably be called the gentlest death in the gruesome history of deaths of The Boys finale, yet it lands with devastating emotional force. Butcher's loyal dog dies moments after Billy Butcher loses Ryan for good, turning an already crushing rejection into an even more depressing scene. Although the bulldog does die of natural causes in the series.

What deepens the tragedy is the real-life loss behind the scenes. Bentley Alexandar, the bulldog who portrayed Terror throughout the series, passed away at the age of 11, eerily mirroring his fictional counterpart’s farewell. Suddenly, the sequence stops feeling like scripted heartbreak and becomes something far more tender: a quiet goodbye to a beloved companion both on-screen and off, adding a further quiet to the finale.
