A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms episode 5 arrived with the blood bath in the Trials of Seven, ending with heartbreaking losses. It began with Ser Duncan the Tall challenging Aerion Targaryen to a trial by combat for one chance at survival, only for the prince to stir trouble by calling for a Trial of Seven instead. By tradition, both sides needed six more knights to fight alongside them.

Despite having no real power or status, Dunk managed to find six tall knights willing to stand beside him. But the battle was brutal, with Dunk and his knights dancing dangerously close to death more than once. Did they make it through the fight, or did injustice win in the end?

Much to Aerion Targaryen’s surprise, Dunk in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, managed to find six knights with Lyonel Baratheon, Raymun Fossoway, Humfrey Beesbury, Humfrey Hardyng, Robyn Rhysling, and Prince Baelor Targaryen willing to fight for him. On the other hand, Aerion had Maekar Targaryen, Daeron Targaryen, Steffon Fossoway, Willem Wylde Donnel of Duskendale, and Roland Crakehall battle on his side. And after a grueling clash that saw Dunk brush against death several times, he won with Aerion admitting the defeat and taking back his accusations.

However, Prince Baelor, who walked off the jousting field alive, quickly succumbed to his head injury after being struck by Maekar in the bout. Ser Humfrey Hardyng, who had already broken a leg the day before, suffered severe injuries during the bout and died sometime after leaving the field. Ser Humfrey Beesbury was killed during the bout by Ser Donnel of Duskendale of the Kingsguard.

As for Aerion’s side, they may have lost the bout, but all his knights walked away from the field alive.

Although Dunk’s side won, the win came at a huge cost, leaving Dunk and the others mourning the losses, and fans anticipating what battles might come next. But while speaking of the fate of Egg and Dunk, a major spoiler has recently been dropped by a cast member.
