Invincible has never shied away from depicting brutal violence. Here, battles are inevitable, and consequences are permanent. Episode 5 of the fourth season of the animated hit, Give Us a Moment, offered Conquest as the highest level of terror imaginable, so much so that even fatal blows do not feel real when he is on the receiving end. However, looking deeper into the latest episode, every possibility becomes clearer as the graphic fight scenes speak for themselves.

Still, curiosity lingers: Did Mark Grayson finally manage to settle his score with Conquest?

Yes, Mark Grayson finally took down Conquest by strangling him in a jarring fight scene in the April 1, 2026, season 4 episode 5 of Invincible, which felt more like a ragingly maddening war between two unstoppable forces than a rematch. Conquest's fate had been sealed as Grayson lay next to his corpse, almost collapsing after the ruthless Viltrumite kept ripping his intestines out until his last shred of consciousness.

Grayson intervened right at the moment before Conquest could crush Oliver's skull. From biting the bad guy's finger off to being put on life support, Invincible's hero went through a lot in the episode. While undergoing severe bodily damage himself, Grayson kept steady with his hand-to-hand combat against the villain, not letting him go until the very end.

The end of the battle left no room for ambiguity as the bloodthirsty Viltrumite suffocated to death. While opponents from previous battles, including Conquest himself after Season 3's brutal showdown, either returned and fought again or escaped the battle. However, this time around, his death is final, as even in the comics, Nolan attempts to bury him on the planet while waiting for Grayson to heal.

Meanwhile, Jeffrey Dean Morgan's return to the show is still ambiguous because in the Invincible #108 comic, an alternate version of Conquest pops up from the multiverse. Though only for a brief cameo, this version of the Viltrumite could also be voiced by Morgan, should the production choose to animate the scene. But as of now, Conquest is done and dusted, after having nearly killed Mark Grayson.
