Dexter Sol Ansell is all set to return as Egg in A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2. The 11-year-old actor, who was just nine when he first played the squire next to Ser Duncan in the hit HBO series, made the bold decision to shave his head for the role, and he has done it again as production gears up for the new season. The young actor was so committed to getting the part that he did not hesitate to agree to shaving his head, even during auditions.

While he did not need to shave his head during the auditions, his dedication paid off. He was cast as Egg and now returns just as dedicated, gearing up with the same enthusiasm for Season 2.

Dexter Sol Ansell recently shared a video showing him getting ready before visiting the barber shop, as well as greeting fans after shaving his head on his Instagram. The clip also includes a few glimpses of him at the barber shop, where he appeared calm throughout the process. His experience of getting his head shaved for the first time for the series was also recorded and later shared with fans.

Although during his first time shaving his head, he seemed to briefly question his decision. In an interview with Filmfare, he shared that he felt bizarre when the middle portion of his hair was being shaved off. It was a bold decision for Sol Ansell as well as his character, Egg, in the series.

“One minute, I’m about to die in The Hunger Games. The next minute, I am shaving all my hair off! It was mental,” he said.

Later in interviews, he shared how important it was for Egg to shave his head. His character had unique hair, and in order to remain hidden in Westeros and stay away from the castle, he had to shave it off to avoid being recognized. Now, much like the character he portrays, the actor also went on to make several bold and brave decisions throughout the series, which were praised by the cast and crew.

HBO Finally Finds the Solution to the Biggest Modern TV Problem With 'A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms'

While Sol Ansell is ready to begin the action for season 2, the show had an unexpected hiccup during production.

Floods halted A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms 2 production

The production of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2 began after the end of Season 1. Several scenes from the second season were originally planned to be shot at the Las Niñas Dam in Gran Canaria. However, extreme rainfall during the winter caused the dam’s water levels to rise, submerging much of the film set near the reservoir.

This led the production company to relocate filming to mainland Spain. While the show has faced a major disruption, there is currently no news of a delay in the Season 2 release. If no other major issues arise, the series is expected to arrive in 2027.
