Grit, fervor, and determination are all Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s Red Dragons have shown in the two or so years since their Hollywood takeover. The Welsh side has ambitiously knocked down hurdles along its way as it leaped onto the laps of success that had eluded it for many seasons. However, at the end of the day, a game is a game, and emotions are bound to run amok. In a recent encounter, the red shirts won their fixture yet lay embroiled in an unfortunately ugly spat.

Ever since Reynolds and McElhenney took over Racecourse Ground, a lot has changed; from the frequent influx of celebrities to an uptick in many amenities. The result has been even more stellar than better as Wrexham cracked their way onto the fourth stage of the EFL after fifteen long years. Meanwhile, in the ongoing FA Cup, winger and Ireland national team player James McClean clashed with opponent Mansfield fans.

Clinching the game to their name with a 2-1 win over the rivals, McClean’s actions dampened the celebrations down a notch. It unfolded soon after Wrexham’s win when he was apparently called on by the host fans. The winger went on to argue and approach one of the spectators across the dividers before guards intervened. The provoked incident on Field Mill comes at the backs of a series of targets aimed at the player recently.

The crown jewel and selling point of Wrexham has been Ryan Reynolds’ ability to document them captivatingly. While the first season of their Welcome to Wrexham series attracted widespread attention and even landed the Deadpool 3 actor his first Emmy nomination, the second season has been less chatty. Many pointed out a glaring instance with the obvious use of AI imagery in one of the episodes.

Before it could die out, another one followed when a map representing famous UK-based football clubs went widely off realism. The inaccurate locations made the documentary a subject of mockery, leaving the co-owners red-faced. Regardless, the team has shown resilience in locking all horns to punch their way through the next EFL tier.
