Matt Damon, who has worked with Christopher Nolan on The Odyssey for months, revealed one of the funniest incidents from the set. The director is known as one of the most genius filmmakers in Hollywood. He wrote several outstanding films and brought his unique and brilliant visions on big screen.

He has successfully explored various genres, from space to the world of superheroes, and has presented gems such as Interstellar, The Dark Knight Rises, and Inception. However, it seems there are moments when it takes a toll on the director and he ends up doing something unusual. Damon recently shared a story where the director made an unexpected and hilarious comment amid the filming of The Odyssey.

Matt Damon shares Christopher Nolan’s “stupidest” comment

In a recent interview with GQ magazine, Matt Damon opened up about filming The Odyssey and how deeply invested everyone was in the project. He recalled having dinner with his family at a hotel in Scotland when Christopher Nolan, who had just arrived at the hotel with the rest of the crew, walked past his table. When Damon greeted him, the director appeared surprised and responded in an unexpected way.

“And he turned and he goes, ‘Oh, hey, Matt. I didn’t recognize you with the beard.’ Chris doesn’t say stupid things—it was definitely the stupidest thing he’s ever said, because we’d been next to each other for six months,” he recalled.

While laughing and joking about the situation, Damon shared during the interview that Nolan had just returned from watching the dailies featuring the actor with the same beard. The entire cast and crew were seemingly exhausted and fully occupied throughout the filming. Their hard work eventually paid off, as The Odyssey became the talk of the town, dominated headlines, and grossed more than a billion at the box office.

Looking back at the film's success, the actor expressed immense appreciation for the opportunity.

Matt Damon expressed gratitude for The Odyssey

Matt Damon achieved major success with Good Will Hunting, and later, the opportunity to be part of The Odyssey came along. These were two of the most important, career-defining experiences for the actor. But when asked if he was expecting another such experience, Damon shifted the focus to what he had already achieved.

“I don’t want to sound like a broken record, but I have such gratitude for the fact that this came along my path at this point. I have no right to expect anything like that to happen again," he shared.

Damon is now more focused on making meaningful movies and teaming up with people he wants to work with. He had previously dropped out of Ben Affleck’s Animals to join The Odyssey. Perhaps now the actor will have the time to focus on another project with Affleck and collaborate on more films together which could become a huge blockbuster
