With Avengers: Doomsday looming at year’s end like a very expensive thundercloud, fans have settled into a familiar posture, equal parts devotion and dread, awaiting what promises to be Marvel’s grandest exercise in nostalgia yet. The film, after all, intends to gather its old heroes like treasured heirlooms, polished and paraded once more. While Marvel had mostly left fans in the dark following the trailer drops, David Harbour has flipped the script.

Amidst every celebrity involved in the project opting for complete silence or a goofy confession about how Marvel will be at their throat if they let something slip, David Harbour has offered an Avengers: Doomsday update.

It seems that David Harbour has taken a page from his Stranger Things' character's book, as instead of choosing the safe path when asked about Avengers: Doomsday, he decided to give an update.

“We got a little more shooting left on this little Avenger movie, in London,” he said in an interview with Extra TV.

Filming originally began in April 2025 at Pinewood Studios in England, with location shoots in Bahrain also reported. Early reports suggested that the film commenced production in April 2025 and ended in September 2025. But above everyone's expectations, the film is again set to shoot a few more elements. While now a part of arguably Marvel's most ambitious project, Harbour once started on the sidelines.

Harbour made his MCU debut in Black Widow (2021) as Red Guardian, who is the Soviet Union's super soldier, counterpart to Captain America. He reprises the role in Thunderbolts*, where Red Guardian becomes part of a morally gray team assembled for covert missions. This film expands his character beyond comic relief and places him in a more action-driven ensemble setting.

The central antagonist will be Dr. Doom, played by  Robert Downey Jr., who was the most talked-about role and character of all time post the film's announcements and Downey Jr.'s reveal at the MCU event.

Shifting from the lead of the superhero film as Iron Man to a superpower antagonist is a brilliant casting, especially showcasing the relevance of the multiverse theory. The film will bridge the ongoing storylines to Avengers: Secret Wars, set to release on December 17, 2027 which is a part of Marvel Studios’ Phase Six. All in all, David Harbour has sprinkled salt on the already burning excitement about Avengers: Doomsday.
