Meghan Markle's two rumor mills have somehow coincided in the form of David Beckham starring in a campaign for The Gentleman. Yes, the very same Beckham that Markle is reported to have beef with. Only a person living under a rock would not know of the Sussexes' return to the UK and how the return has also sparked rumors of Meghan Markle returning to the acting scene, one of those rumors being The Gentleman. Although they are quite confusing sorts of rumors as they keep contradicting each other.
While fans were trying to figure out if Markle is actually making her way to The Gentleman, they have to tap into their inner Edward Horniman to figure out David Beckham.
David Beckham stars in new The Gentleman campaign amidst Meghan Markle's rumors
Netflix has announced a new The Gentlemen campaign starring David Beckham alongside Theo James, bringing the football icon into the series’ sharply dressed criminal underworld. Titled “The Gentlemen’s Serve,” the Stella Artois collaboration turns a familiar beer ritual into a stylish contest of power. Beckham enters the franchise’s world with effortless swagger.
At the center of the campaign is a 90-second film that sees Theo James reprise his role as Eddie Horniman at a pub auction. After Eddie bids $200,000 for a bull, David Beckham casually raises the stakes, transforming a seemingly ordinary purchase into a battle of nerve, wealth, and composure. The unexpected face-off gives the campaign its playful edge.

The collaboration, as announced by Netflix, arrives ahead of The Gentlemen Season 2, which premieres on September 3, 2026, expanding the series beyond its usual screen territory. Netflix and Stella Artois have also created additional short films built around the five-step pouring ritual, while London’s Marlborough pub will receive a themed takeover. Beckham, meanwhile, gets a stylish new role in the franchise’s orbit.
While Netflix has remained cryptic about Markle’s rumored The Gentlemen casting, the Duchess and the Beckhams have been equally tight-lipped about reports of a rift.
Revisiting the rift between David Beckham and Meghan Markle
The reported rift between David Beckham and Meghan Markle traces back to an awkward 2018 confrontation involving Victoria Beckham. Meghan Markle reportedly suspected that private details about her beauty and lifestyle conversations with Victoria Beckham had reached the British press, prompting Prince Harry to confront David Beckham. The accusation reportedly left David Beckham furious, although a salon employee was later blamed.

The tension reportedly lingered beyond that episode, with the Beckhams attending Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s wedding ceremony but not the evening reception. Accounts also claimed that David Beckham attempted to reconnect with Prince Harry during the 2018 Invictus Games, only to remain at a distance. Over time, David Beckham has reportedly remained protective of Victoria Beckham and closer to Prince William and Catherine Middleton, leaving reconciliation with Meghan Markle uncertain.
Ultimately, what began as a disputed leak allegation became a lasting chapter in the reported distance between the Beckhams and the Sussexes and now has leaked onto The Gentleman rumors.
