Dakota Johnson and Pedro Pascal have been making headlines ever since their movie Materialists, co-starring Chris Evans, dropped. The internet has been abuzz with talk about the chemistry between the unorthodox Hollywood pairing, and it looks like they will have more to discuss about the two in the future, though not in terms of oozing on-screen spark. A recent casting rumor suggests that the 50 Shades actress is being eyed for a significant role in a universe already explored by the Gladiator II star.

If the rumors turn out to be anything more, and the actress actually ends up joining the said venture, she would pull a reverse Pedro Pascal.

And if the rumored Star Wars project works out for Johnson, she will be pulling a reverse Pedro Pascal. Pascal, for the unversed, first did Star Wars' The Mandalorian, and is now moving to the MCU with Fantastic Four: First Step. And Pascal seems to be off to a strong start in the MCU, unlike Johnson, whose stint is one she would rather leave behind.

Johnson’s Marvel appearance in Madame Web got her nothing but a dreaded prize from an award body that sounds nothing but phony, but is as celebrated among fans as the Academy. The film both commercially and critically hurt the actress’s position as an A-list Hollywood talent to the extent that she ended up igniting discourse about the lack of creative control filmmakers have with big-budget films.

With Johnson’s skepticism about franchise offerings, it is appropriate to wonder if she would be up for a term with Star Wars. 

In a time when A-list stars evade calling out franchise fatigue, Johnson, in an interview with the Los Angeles Times, opined that Madame Web had producers making creative decisions rather than the screenwriters and filmmakers with credible filmmaking comprehension. As mentioned earlier, the Star Wars franchise will not be any less of a commercial effort than Madame Web, meaning the planned Star Wars installments, too, would have a committee making major decisions with little room for the art of filmmaking and storytelling.

Although this creates a less suitable climate for Johnson to agree to any Star Wars part that comes her way, it is important to note that the actress said she is not one to ever say never in the same interview where she critiqued the power imbalance. Johnson’s contrasting views on big banner movies leave us as confused about her POV on them as probably her.
