Now, for the first time, a prequel series is set to arrive on screen, exploring even darker and more disturbing events that started the horrors surrounding Camp Crystal Lake.

The cast is expected to show their best performance in this horror series, which takes audiences back to the 1970s when the story of the famous horror franchise first began.

The name Crystal Lake rings a bell for Friday the 13th franchise fans. It is the same camp that became a place of terror in the 1980s horror films. Now, the upcoming series Crystal Lake is set to explore the story of Pamela Voorhees, who appeared for a brief time in the earlier movies. The series will show her as a grieving mother mourning the loss of her son, Jason, who drowned in Crystal Lake.

During an interview at New York Comic Con 2026, creator Brad Caleb Kane teased that the show would feature several creative k****. This time, he is ready to turn things up a notch, making the series even more brutal than the films. Linda Cardellini, who plays Pamela Voorhees, also revealed that the series gets particularly gory in some scenes. 

“It does get gory, yes, so much so that I wish sometimes they weren’t as practical as they were,” Cardellini told Variety.

The Friday the 13th prequel series, Crystal Lake, is set to premiere on Peacock on October 15, 2026. The series will consist of eight episodes, all available to binge-watch at once. With Halloween just around the corner, it could be the perfect spooky binge-watch for the season.
