High-octane franchises have rarely slowed down. But when they do, it is usually to reload for something bigger. Racing explosions, family feuds, and gravity-defying stunts have dominated Fast & Furious for over two decades, turning it into one of Hollywood’s most bankable action sagas. Now, Vin Diesel further fueled speculation by posting alongside Cristiano Ronaldo on Instagram.

With the caption, “Everyone asked, would he be in the Fast mythology… I gotta tell you he is a real one. We wrote a role for him… “

Now, with Fast X ending on a cliffhanger in 2023, the road ahead for Fast & Furious 11 has never looked more unpredictable or more exciting. But when will the race begin?

When is Fast & Furious 11 releasing?

Fast & Furious 11, also known as Fast X: Part 2, is in development at Universal Pictures. Even though its release date remains unconfirmed, according to IMDB, it may be out by 2027. The film was initially expected to arrive in 2025. But industry delays caused by the 2023 strikes and scheduling shifts have pushed production timelines back.

Just like previous Fast & Furious installments, Fast X: Part 2 is also expected to follow a wide international rollout across major markets. This can include Italy, Poland, and Russia, alongside its US theatrical release, given the large market. However, specific release dates for these regions have not yet been officially announced by Universal Pictures. But dates do not fuel the franchise, do they?

Cristiano Ronaldo, Vin Diesel and a decades-old connection

Even before Vin Diesel set the internet alight by sharing the Instagram post, there was a hidden revelation in his previous caption. It featured how a role was once written for the football superstar in Los Bandoleros, the 2009 short film Diesel wrote. He went on to direct the film as well, which later served as a prequel to Fast & Furious

Diesel’s original Instagram caption explicitly referenced Ronaldo’s part in that project before it was quietly edited. Times are different now. The trajectory in both the superstars' lives has gone beyond imagination in the following decades after 2009.
