One of the most famous crime drama shows, Criminal Minds: Evolution, is set to bid farewell to its fans. The show began as Criminal Minds on CBS in 2005 and was later revived with a new title as Criminal Minds: Evolution on Paramount+, where it continued for a few more seasons. Its 19th season arrived this year and ran from May to July.

However, Criminal Minds: Evolution has dropped a shocking news as the show could be gearing up for its final chapter soon after wrapping up its latest season.

Criminal Minds: Evolution will return for its 20th season in 2027 on Paramount+. However, this will be the final chapter for the iconic show, which has run for more than two decades. Showrunner and executive producer Erica Messer, in her statement on October 30, 2026, shared a few words about the show and the effort and dedication that went into making it.

“It’s hard to put into words what Criminal Minds has meant to all of us who have been fortunate enough to be part of this extraordinary journey, first on CBS for 15 seasons and then on Paramount+ for five,” she said (via Hollywood).

While a release date for the show's 20th season has not yet been announced, it is set to arrive in 2027. Aisha Tyler, Joe Mantegna, A.J. Cook, RJ Hatanaka, Adam Rodriguez, Kirsten Vangsness, and Paget Brewster are expected to return for the final season. This show, which follows criminal profilers working for the FBI's Behavioral Analysis Unit, ran on CBS for 15 years before ending in 2020.

It returned for its 16th season on Paramount+ in 2022 under a new title and has since released five more installments. All seasons of the show that are under the same title are available to watch on Paramount+. As for those who know the series by heart, there are other hit crime drama series or Criminal Minds Spin-off shows that may also be worth exploring.
