Craig Zobel's indie thriller Turpentine is assembling a formidable ensemble, and the latest addition makes the project even harder to ignore. Bill Camp has officially signed on to join Melissa McCarthy and Connor Storrie in the film, which is based on a celebrated Black List script. With Rian Johnson producing and a cast that keeps getting stronger, Turpentine is shaping up to be one of the most exciting indie thrillers in the pipeline.
While Turpentine's story is built around a family being robbed blind, the real headline is the caliber of talent assembling behind the heist.

Deadline confirmed that Bill Camp has joined Turpentine, the upcoming Craig Zobel thriller starring Melissa McCarthy and Connor Storrie. Camp's character details remain under wraps, but his presence signals serious dramatic weight for the project. The film follows a deadbeat son who hires friends to rob his own parents to settle a debt with a bookie, with predictably catastrophic results. T-Street and ShivHans Pictures are producing.
A Juilliard-trained stage veteran, Camp built his screen reputation slowly before exploding into Hollywood's A-list support circuit. His Emmy-nominated turn in The Night Of opened major doors, leading to acclaimed roles in Lincoln, 12 Years a Slave, The Queen's Gambit, and Joker. Interestingly, both Camp and Storrie share a loose Joker universe connection; Camp played Detective Garrity in the 2019 original, while Storrie appeared briefly in Joker: Folie a Deux (2024), though the two never shared scenes.
As Camp joins Storrie on one high-profile set, fans of Heated Rivalry are already counting down to when Storrie returns to the ice entirely.

Connor Storrie is not slowing down on the Turpentine set either. Heated Rivalry, the breakout HBO Max sports romance that turned Storrie into a household name practically overnight, has been officially renewed for a second season. Production is scheduled to begin in August 2026, with a Spring 2027 release expected on Crave and HBO Max. Storrie returns as Ilya Rozanov alongside Hudson Williams, who plays Shane Hollander.

Season 2 will draw primarily from Rachel Reid's sequel novel, The Long Game, with tonal shifts toward more mature, grounded storytelling. The slow-burn romance that captivated audiences in Season 1 now faces real-world pressures, media scrutiny, relationship growing pains, and the relentless grind of professional hockey. For a show that already became a mainstream cultural phenomenon, the stakes heading into the second chapter could not be higher. Bill Camp, joining Storrie in Turpentine, meanwhile, confirms that the rising star is not waiting around between seasons.
