Maintaining the older categories, honoring even the socially detoxing Selena Gomez's Selena + Restaurant alongside long-running shows, a new category, Outstanding Emerging Talent in a Daytime Drama Series, puts forth a youth-specific award and removes age limits, highlighting fresh talent in daytime dramas without repeat wins.
This year’s drama nominations include only three shows due to eligibility rules: The Young and the Restless, General Hospital, and Days of Our Lives. The newcomer CBS soap Beyond the Gates was disqualified for missing the deadline. Top nominees include known daytime stars such as Drew Barrymore, Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson, and Kelly Ripa with Mark Consuelos. Deborah Norville will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award for her legendary tenure at Inside Edition.
