Each of Christopher Nolan’s works, whether Oppenheimer or Inception, has sparked conversation, and yet The Odyssey appears to be different. As per research by Sweepstakes Table analyzing Google search volume for 60 confirmed entertainment releases of 2026, The Odyssey has ranked the highest with 673,000 average monthly searches in the category of movies. The average monthly global search volume was calculated from February 2025 to January 2026 using Google Ads Keyword Planner.

It is double that of the movie in second position, Wuthering Heights, starring Margot Robbie, which has 368,000 searches. It is also much higher than Scrubs in the TV category (top rank), which has 2,900 searches, making the movie one of the most talked about in the last year. It is safe to say that The Odyssey is one of the most anticipated movies of this year.

Although impressive, this data does not come as a surprise. The Odyssey has been discussed by the fans and celebrities alike for several reasons. This is one of the most crucial pieces of Greek literature, which has been adapted several times across history.

Another reason is the film’s extraordinary cast, which includes some of the biggest talents of Hollywood.

The star-studded cast of The Odyssey

The cast of The Odyssey slowly came together over several months, with big names joining the project one after another. Matt Damon was among the first actors reported to be in talks in October 2024, followed soon by Tom Holland, who will play Telemachus. Not long after, Zendaya and Anne Hathaway joined the film, with Hathaway taking on the role of Penelope.

The ensemble continued to grow with names like Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron, and Benny Safdie. Mia Goth is said to be playing the role of Penelope’s maid. In early 2025, actors such as Jon Bernthal, Himesh Patel, Elliott Page, and Samantha Morton were also added.

Whether the finished spectacle lives up to the noise remains to be seen. But if search bars, casting announcements, and public curiosity are any indication, Nolan’s latest voyage is already halfway to legend
