Indian moviegoers are in for a rare Hollywood treat as one of the most celebrated filmmakers in the industry is all set to bring his latest project to the country. Christopher Nolan’s star-studded mythic action epic The Odyssey is already creating buzz as the next ambitious chapter in the director’s career. To mark this occasion, Nolan will be visiting Mumbai with some of the actors and the producer of the movie.

A major milestone in Nolan’s career is set to unfold in India as the filmmaker brings one of Hollywood’s most anticipated releases to Mumbai.

Academy Award-winning filmmaker Christopher Nolan is heading to Mumbai this July to celebrate the worldwide theatrical release of his new mythic action epic, The Odyssey, as reported by multiple outlets. Joining him will be film stars Matt Damon and Tom Holland, and Academy Award-winning producer Emma Thomas. The Odyssey will be Nolan’s first official film to premiere in India. 

Mumbai will be a stop on The Odyssey’s global premiere tour, alongside London, Paris, and New York. Indians, for the first time, have got their tickets along with the rest of the world for the first-ever film to be shot entirely on IMAX cameras. IMAX tickets for The Odyssey went on sale June 8, 2026. It will release in Indian theaters on July 17, 2026.  

For context, The Odyssey is a retelling of the ancient Greek epic poem by Homer and tells the story of the legendary King Odysseus on his perilous journey home after the Trojan War. On his way, he encounters mythical creatures, vengeful gods, and countless obstacles, all in his effort to get back to his wife Penelope and son Telemachus in Ithaca. According to Nolan’s version, his approach to the classical story can be described as a huge reworking that involves mythology, adventures, and actions.

  As Christopher Nolan will be doing his magic in the director's seat, it is produced by Emma Thomas. On camera, the longtime creative partners are producing the project through their Syncopy production company. Together, they have created critically acclaimed and commercially successful films, and The Odyssey is one of the most eagerly anticipated releases of the year.
