"All four of them were able to work in the film," Nolan told E! News. Emma Thomas, his wife and longtime producing partner, helped manage the sprawling set where their children were scattered across various departments. Nolan even recalled spotting one of his sons in a wetsuit, maneuvering a boat at sea.
"I'd sort of look behind a boat at sea, see a guy in a wetsuit maneuvering the boat and realize it was one of my sons," Nolan recalled. The experience brought a profound layer of personal meaning to the director, although no specific roles were revealed by Nolan.
"The Odyssey is a family story," Nolan told E! News in the exclusive interview. He explained that engaging with the legendary tale emotionally forced him to reflect deeply on his own life and relationships. Having his children present made the creative journey incredibly poignant for the filmmaker.
"When you're engaging with it creatively, emotionally, you do think a lot about your own life and your own relationships," the filmmaker emphasized, his words giving substance to Homer's cinematic adaptation.
