Chase Infiniti to Star in Feature-Length Adaptation of Dylan Clark’s Viral Short Film, Portrait of God

Hollywood has recently become obsessed with viral online trends and films by famous YouTubers, and it seems to be working incredibly well. This year, Kane Parsons’ Backrooms, which is inspired by the viral internet creepypasta about liminal spaces, became a massive hit. Now, another viral YouTube short film, Portrait of God by Dylan Clark, will be getting a feature-length treatment.

With notable names attached to the project, the movie is set to star Oscar-winning film One Battle After Another star Chase Infiniti.

Chase Infiniti to star in Portrait of God

Chase Infiniti has been announced to star in Portrait of God. It is reportedly a feature-length adaptation of the YouTube-famous short film of the same name by Dylan Clark. He co-wrote the script with Joe Russo.

While the project was initially taken up by Universal, after they let it go, Lionsgate picked it up. The video previously released on YouTube in 2022 racked up millions of views, and it has caught the attention of some of the notable horror filmmakers. Sam Raimi for Ghost House Pictures and Jordan Peele for Monkeypaw are set to produce the film.

Ghost House’s Rob Tapert and Monkeypaw’s Win Rosenfeld and Joe Russo are also set to produce the show (via The Hollywood Reporter). The seven-and-a-half-minute YouTube film follows college student Mia Reilly as she discusses a mysterious painting during her presentation. She explains that the painting is believed to show different visions to different people. Some viewers even claim that they can see a man hidden within the image. As for the upcoming movie, the plot details have not been revealed yet.

While the Portrait of God will continue to add more names to its cast and crew, another social media trend is set to be turned into a film.

Warner Bros. brings Siren Head into the spotlight

Siren Head, is a fictional horror monster that went viral through artwork and memes. It appears as a skeletal figure with thin arms and loudspeakers for a head, garnering much attention across social media. Warner Bros. has acquired the rights to Siren Head and is set to turn it into a film.

Brian Duffield has been tasked with developing a story around the monster. He will direct the film and co-write the script with Zack Cregger. As of now, there is no release date set for the film. Now, with Hollywood’s growing interest in internet-born horror, several such stories have been increasingly making the leap from social media to the big screen.
