Before galaxies and castles, it was the journey of two brothers, Mario and Luigi, who entered an unknown world, a space larger than themselves. In The Super Mario Galaxy Movie universe, courage trails fear, rivalry blooms into friendships, and even unplanned events rewrite destiny. The Mushroom Kingdom expands beyond space adventure elements, stardust, and nostalgia by fusing new stories that wait to be told. And Charlie Day has fueled the fire by hinting at a spin-off following the star-studded upcoming movie.

Already basking in success, the movie franchise is set to leave no corners of the game unturned, and Luigi's Mansion could come next.

Speaking with Screen Rant, actor Charlie Day, who voices Luigi, has discussed the potential adaptation of Luigi's Mansion into a spin-off following the release of The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. Day, apparently being told about this particular idea for the first time, expressed interest in a spin-off centered on Luigi. And with the Mario movie universe expanding, one could expect the haunted mansion adventure to be the next big step.

"I would be thrilled to do Luigi's Mansion, just because it's such a fun game. And not that you would make it like a horror movie for kids, but it could have some more sort of jump scares in it, which would be fun," Day told Screen Rant.

Following the massive success of The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023), the upcoming film, The Super Mario Galaxy Movie, is predicted to be equally impactful, leaving the door open for several aspects of the game to come to life through sequels and spin-offs. Luigi's Mansion lets players control Luigi as the main character who must rescue Mario from a haunted mansion filled with ghosts and dark rooms. The character uses a flashlight and a special vacuum machine to capture ghosts and solve puzzles.

In the same interview, Day's co-stars, Keegan-Michael Key and Anya Taylor-Joy, agreed with him on how younger viewers of the franchise would gravitate toward jumpscares. While there is no confirmation on the Luigi spin-off yet, the wait for the upcoming movie, which dives into an outer-space adventure, is almost over.
