We have changed the way we view our content. From DVDs to streaming platforms, it has come a long way with ease and comfort. But this has shifted the power dynamics in the management of the art. And these are some changes that the screen actors and writers’ guild associations are fighting for. The ongoing SAG-AFTRA is a critical turning point in Hollywood. And the Oppenheimer cast is all in support.

The actors and the writers are fighting for equal wages, creative freedom, and union power. As the Oppenheimer cast left their grand premiere, they made sure to show their solidarity.

The Oppenheimer premier screening was scheduled an hour earlier than the decided time to accommodate the rules of the strike. The cast attended the red carpet event which is usually scheduled before any premiers or screenings, some of whom included Emily Blunt, Robert Downey Jr., and Cillian Murphy. They left the event to join the strike with picket signs.

In an interview with Variety on the red carpet, Emily Blunt said that they would all definitely stand with the actors. She also reassured, just like Matt Damon had done earlier, they would leave the moment the strike was called. They had already discussed that they would go home and stand in solidarity for all the fair and righteous demands.

While attending the red carpet an hour earlier was a brilliant strategy, this meant they could respect their fans and the attendees of the event. And also stand strong for fair wages and the fair use of Artificial Intelligence that the strike stood for.
