The much-anticipated horror thriller Her Private Hell is set in a futuristic world filled with more dangers than allies. The horror thriller received more than a seven-minute standing ovation during its premiere at the 79th Cannes Film Festival. Now, that is not surprising, given a star-studded and talented cast including Sophie Thatcher and Charles Melton, who are joined by Havana Rose Liu and Kristine Froseth.

So, understandably, there is much chatter surrounding the Nicolas Winding Refn-directed film. Her Private Hell is set to be released on July 24, 2026. Now, while Her Private Hell could be yet another intriguing addition to Thatcher's filmography, the actor has already built an impressive resume with films across horror, drama, and sci-fi.

One of Sophie Thatcher's most haunting and unforgettable performances to date comes in Companion. The film follows Iris and her boyfriend, Josh, as they head to a remote Lakehouse for a weekend getaway with friends. However, the fun plan quickly spirals into a nightmare when a violent incident reveals a spine-chilling truth. 

Iris learns that she is an advanced companion robot, with every aspect of her life, even her intelligence and emotions, controlled by Josh through a mobile app. But Iris is not content to remain a puppet and decides to fight against Josh's plan. Her fight for autonomy becomes the heart of the film. 

Drew Hancock, who both wrote and directed the movie in his feature directorial debut, created a tense, unpredictable story, while Thatcher makes it even more thrilling with a terrific performance. As for the cast, Thatcher, who played the role of Iris, is joined by Jack Quaid as Josh. Lukas Gage and Megan Suri are in supporting roles. Thatcher is also a producer in the film alongside Zach Cregger, Raphael Margules, Roy Lee, and J.D. Lifshitz.

Before Companion, Sophie Thatcher starred in the 2024 psychological horror thriller Heretic. The film follows two young Mormon missionaries, Sister Barnes and Sister Paxton, who visit the home of a seemingly polite man, Mr. Reed, after he expresses an interest in learning about their faith. However, once they are inside the house, they realize his intentions are far more sinister and that they are trapped inside.

As the two are forced into a terrifying psychological game, they find out horrifying secrets about Mr. Reed while desperately searching for a way to escape the house alive. Thatcher yet again shows a brilliant performance as Sister Barnes, portraying her character's growing fear and determination. Chloe East is equally impressive as Sister Paxton, while Hugh Grant gives a spine-chilling performance. Written and directed by Scott Beck and Bryan Woods, Heretic is available to rent on Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV.

The 2018 film Prospect is Sophie Thatcher's feature film debut, and she does not disappoint with her performance. As the title suggests, the film focuses on a risky mission that could change the lives of a father and daughter forever. It follows teenage girl Cee and her father as they travel to a toxic forest moon to mine valuable gems.

However, their mission quickly spirals after they encounter a group of ruthless rival prospects. And when her father is killed, Cee is left to survive on her own while seeking justice for his death. But with the moon's deadly environment and constant threats from other prospects, her journey is far more dangerous, leading her to reluctantly join hands with Ezra. This unique story of survival, betrayal, and science fiction, which takes place far from the surface of Earth, is worth watching.

Thatcher stars as Cee alongside Pedro Pascal as Ezra. Jay Duplass, Luke Pitzrick, and Arthur Deranleau also appear in the film. Prospect is available to stream on Hulu.

MaXXXine is one of the brilliant horror thrillers of recent years, which is praised for its haunting performances, direction, and slasher storyline. The film is set in 1985 Los Angeles and follows aspiring actress Maxine Minx, who finally lands the lead role in a horror movie. But just as her career begins to take off, a serial killer starts targeting people around her, pulling Maxine into a deadly mystery connected to her past. 

Mia Goth stars as Maxine Minx, with Elizabeth Debicki and Moses Sumney in supporting roles. Sophie Thatcher appears as an FX artist, while Michelle Monaghan, Bobby Cannavale, Halsey, Lily Collins, Giancarlo Esposito, and Kevin Bacon are also part of the cast. A sequel to 2022's X, MaXXXine is the third and final installment in Ti West's X trilogy. The film is available to rent on Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV. From psychological horror to sci-fi survival, these movies and Thatcher's potential have shown why Sophie Thatcher is Hollywood's most exciting star.
