The mid-credits scene in the finale of Invincible shows Telia bringing a message to Allen and Thaedus, explaining that a new and improved version of the Scourge Virus has been developed. The dead Viltrumite, who had recorded the message only for Allen in case he did not survive, reveals a crucial detail about the virus. And that is, it can also kill species genetically similar to Viltrumites. That said, the virus could be deadly to humans as well.

He further added that while Nolan was aware of the virus, he likely did not know about this enhanced version and just how it could be lethal to humans, too. At the end, he urged Allen to use the virus to kill the viltrumites. Considering the devastation it previously caused to the Viltrumites, the Scourge Virus is already quite deadly.
And now, the virus, which is one of the few things capable of killing the Viltrumites, poses a serious threat to Earth, too. But whether the virus will be used or not is something that can be found out in the next season. And fortunately, fans might not have to wait long for it.
A new season of the show, which was announced, has a release window, too.
