Middle-earth is calling once again, and the world of cinema is bracing for a massive return to J.R.R. Tolkien's legendary universe. Decades after Peter Jackson’s trilogy captured the global imagination, the announcement of new live-action entries, spearheaded by Andy Serkis's The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, has reignited conversations about which iconic figures might step back into the spotlight. 

However, there is one particular character whose prospective comeback has sent fan expectations soaring. That would be Arwen, the Evenstar of Rivendell, played by Liv Tyler, whose fierce devotion defined the trilogy's emotional heart. As the franchise prepares to turn its next chapter, the possibility of Tyler gracing us with her presence in the upcoming film as the Evenstar feels more alluring than ever, but can she?

Therefore, forcing her into a plotline where she does not traditionally belong risks disrupting the established canon, where her true power historically rests in emotional fortitude and her distant and unwavering bond with Aragorn rather than outdoor tracking.

During a panel at Awesome Con in 2025 alongside her former co-stars, speaking about the possibility of stepping back into Arwen's shoes to Screen Rant, Liv Tyler admitted that she would return to the role if given the opportunity.

"I'd just do anything. I write to Fran [Walsh] and Philippa [Boyens] all the time. I'm like, 'Hey, is there any chance we're going to need Arwen back?'” she said, “It was such a gift to our lives. It's so hard to sum it up in words, but it was such a profound gift. I would do anything to be able to see it again, feel it again, but we live it in our hearts and our minds now."

Tyler’s enduring affection highlights how much the character means to her personally. And rightfully so, as Jackson’s cinematic adaptation shows that her arc is defined by breathtaking courage and profound sacrifice. From her thundering charge across the Fords of Bruinen to save Frodo from the Nazgûl, to her agonizing choice to forfeit the immortal grace of the Elves so she could share a mortal lifespan with Aragorn, her journey forms the very emotional heartbeat of the story. 

Embodying a character of such grace, resilience, and iconic romance leaves an indelible mark, one that neither moviegoers nor the actress who brought her to life could ever truly forget. Ultimately, while strict adherence to lore and technical hurdles make a seamless cameo tricky, Tyler’s passion proves that the possibility of the Evenstar’s return in the upcoming Lord of the Rings movie may not be as far-fetched.
