As the mercenary and the adamantium claws join forces to breathe life into the most awaited story of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Deadpool & Wolverine, the dream of Marvel comic fans will finally find a platform for realization. However, Ryan Reynolds’ Merc with a Mouth’s underlying desire to become a part of Xavier’s home, makes one wonder if this superhero truce could be his gateway to his dream of joining the X-Men.

Given Deadpool’s lifetime penchant for being an X-Men recruit, can Deadpool & Wolverine ultimately make Marvel's beloved anti-hero's superhero dream come true?

From the pages of comics to the silver screen, one consistent aspect of Deadpool's character is his desire to join the X-Men. Despite forging close ties with veterans like Wolverine and individual members, Deadpool's chances of becoming an official X-Men member seem slim. This is because, in the comics, Deadpool has never been a part of the X-Men squad, and being related to X-Men never equates to being one. And in movies as well, the character has never found its way in, so the odds of Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool to do the impossible remain bleak.

Transitioning from comics to live-action adaptation, Deadpool has continually attempted to integrate himself into the X-Men fold. However, his unpredictable nature poses a significant challenge, potentially jeopardizing the delicate missions of the X-Men. Yet, Deadpool's determination to infiltrate the X-Men universe persists, whether through donning makeshift costumes or expressing his wish to be included. Nonetheless, his aspirations may never come to fruition due to the nature of the tasks the X-Men typically undertake.

The upcoming priority release of MCU’s film slate, Deadpool & Wolverine might not lead to Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool’s official merge as an X-Men variant but will feature plenty of characters from the superhero squad. In addition to Deadpool and Wolverine, Colossus is confirmed to appear as a staple of the Deadpool franchise. Furthermore, Pyro’s inclusion was highlighted during the first trailer release. Several months ago, a series of set pictures disclosed the possibility of Sabretooth’s reprisal in the movie.

It has been largely anticipated that Tyler Mane’s Sabretooth would appear in the movie, but Liev Schreiber’s one may also return as per rumors. Besides these, Toad is supposed to return for a battle sequence in Deadpool & Wolverine. Lady Deathstrike and Azazel are also affirmed to make a cameo, as evidenced by fleeting footage from the second trailer. Therefore, while Reynolds' portrayal of Deadpool may not secure him a spot among the X-Men in the film, those who have already earned their place will make their return.
