Except for gaining popularity with their protests all over the world, the first thing that makes Gen-Z as Gen-Z are their slangs. And it seems Saturday Night Live comedian Michael Che has a beef with one of them, "unc," a little too much.

The term, which has become a cheeky nickname for older men online, might be intended as a harmless sign of affection. However, Che seems to hear something far less flattering whenever younger people throw it his way.

And when he recently sat down with fellow comedian Kam Patterson, he made it abundantly clear that this particular slang term has officially crossed the line.

Michael Che does not like being called as "unc" by the Gen-Z

For someone whose job involves roasting people for a living, Michael Che apparently has a surprisingly short fuse when the joke is about his own age. During his appearance on Complex’s GOAT Talk, along with Kam Patterson, the duo discussed the worst Gen Z social habits when the conversation turned to the word “unc.”

“I don't like Gen-Z calling me unc,” Che admitted.

When Patterson questioned what was wrong with the nickname, Che delivered a rather dramatic response, joking that he would prefer being called an offensive slur over being addressed as “unc”. He quickly clarified that he genuinely hated the word, but his frustration was clearly aimed at the way younger people use it.

“Unc is like a term of endearment now. It's like a term of sarcasm. I don't like it. It's slur,” he said further.

And considering Che has spent years delivering sharp jokes on television, it is particularly funny watching him become the target of a generational roast.

Michael Che’s reaction arrives just as Saturday Night Live continues to dominate conversations with its latest celebrity-hosted episodes. The comedian has spent years behind the Weekend Update desk alongside Colin Jost, delivering some of the show’s sharpest political and cultural jokes.

The Halloween episode hosted by Inde Navarrette recently became the season’s most-watched installment, drawing 5.2 million viewers and generating 325 million social media video views. The episode also featured Gracie Abrams as a musical guest and a surprise appearance by Tom Hanks.

Navarrette’s episode even included a cheeky jab at Shane Gillis’ controversial remarks about women’s gym attire, proving that SNL remains more than happy to turn real-life controversies into comedy fodder.

With Che regularly roasting celebrities, politicians, and just about anyone who makes it onto his radar, perhaps Gen Z’s “unc” jokes are simply the universe returning the favor.
