Bugs Bunny Musical 'Bye Bye Bunny' May See The Light of The Day in Future, Reports Suggest
The beloved Looney Tunes franchise has entertained an entire generation of children and remains nostalgic even today. However, for a franchise as iconic as Looney Tunes, the last few years have been oddly turbulent. Last year, Warner Bros. removed the entire library of classic Looney Tunes shorts from HBO Max.
Back in 2023, Warner Bros. Discovery shelved the already completed Looney Tunes film Coyote vs. Acme for a tax write-off. The Day the Earth Blew Up was another title that was offered to different distributors. Both films later found success through Ketchup Entertainment.
Unlike those movies, there is another project with massive potential that is still awaiting a release. However, the hope for the film might not be over yet.

Much-anticipated movie Bye Bye Bunny could return in future
Bye Bye Bunny is one such that reportedly had some internal content changes. Due to this change in approach, the animation was stopped, and the movie was shelved indefinitely. While it is not currently being worked on, sources say Warner Bros. Animation has not completely closed the door and could revisit the idea in the future.
As Looney Tunes finds success over a new generation, the idea of Bye Bye Bunny's return cannot be thrown away, as per The Wrap. Directed by animator Brandon Jeffords and written by Emmy-award winner Ariel Dumas, the film is supposed to be a non-theatrical release and a big first feature-length Looney Tunes musical with Bugs Bunny. The music and orchestration of the movie were done by Pulitzer Prize, Tony, and Grammy award-winner Tom Kitt.
As seen, there are movies such as The Day the Earth Blew Up that were saved. So, the expectation for Bye Bye Bunny to return is more than ever. And that explains the love viewers have for this classic. If anything, Looney Tunes' arrival on Tubi is a shining example of how much fans appreciate the show.
Looney Tunes finds much-deserved love on Tubi
Earlier, in March 2025, Warner Bros. had pulled the entire classic Looney Tunes shorts library from HBO Max. However, later in August, the free, ad-supported streamer, Tubi, acquired 789 classic shorts, making a surprising comeback. These episodes, repackaged with ad breaks, seemed to have worked well.
Looney Tunes quickly landed in Tubi’s top 10 most-watched series by viewing time. Tubi’s head of acquisitions, Samuel Harowitz, has also further added how it was a massive success for the Looney Tunes.
“On its own, Looney Tunes is a huge win for us,” he told Vulture.

If the past few years hint at anything, it is that while there were hurdles, Looney Tunes is both a financial success and a nostalgic show among fans, with many tuning in to watch the show. It clearly shows that the love for these characters is alive and well. And the more popular Looney Tunes becomes in this era, the better the chances are that Bye Bye Bunny could get a release date.
