Best known for his charming turn as Colin Bridgerton in Netflix’s much-loved Regency-era series Bridgerton, the actor is now stepping into a role that promises drama mirroring the British tale but with an extra dash of flair and rebellion. In a move that has delighted fans and sparked fresh curiosity, Newton is set to headline an Off-Broadway production that pays tribute to the late fashion designer Alexander McQueen. Titled House of McQueen, the Off-Broadway presentation featuring Luke Newton as the late fashion designer Lee Alexander McQueen, according to Deadline, will begin previews on August 19 at The Mansion at Hudson Yards. Its official opening, meanwhile, is set for September 9. Directed by Sam Helfrich, the gig promises to take “guests through Lee’s layered individual experiences,” starting from his early days in the style scene to later building one of the most coveted fashion brands in the world. 

The show, per the synopsis, will go on to document the icon’s untimely passing in 2010 at age 40 and will, in between the chapters, weave his various intimate relationships. Rick Lazes will executive produce the endeavor, and he could not be more enthralled by Luke Newton’s casting as the lead. “It is our absolute pleasure to announce Luke’s involvement with House of McQueen,” he told the aforementioned publication, adding that the production team could not think of anyone better suited to bring Lee’s story to life. Newton’s fans appeared to immensely agree with him, expressing their excitement on X.
