Brendan Fraser had to scour through archives of WWII data to prepare for his new film, Pressure. Brendan Fraser's comeback has given his fans a range of very different performances from him, who played only the beefcake action hero, as he was stereotyped through the ‘90s and early 2000s, in his heyday. That time, the actor was only known for his affable charm and goofy expressiveness, but now he has totally reinvented himself, and his new role as General Dwight D. Eisenhower is a prime example of this transition.

But the role demanded more than his acting skills; it warranted a deep dive into the history of the watershed moment that his latest movie explores.

As per a report by Variety, Brendan Fraser claims that he visited the Imperial War Museum in London with the cast as part of his research and had the opportunity to view archives of important WWII data. As a history buff himself, Fraser thought he knew his history well, that is, until director Anthony Maras sent the screenplay of Pressure his way.

“I read until my eyes hurt and I listened to podcasts,” he says of his research.

“They brought documents out to us that are authentic. Let me tell you, I had in these two hands a copy of the playbook Operation Overlord,” Fraser said about the documents they found in the Museum.

He added that there was rust on the page, and on the top, the words “Top Secret” were written. He admitted that he could barely understand the military jargon and that it was meant to be read in part. He further said that when he held it in his hands, the hair on the back of his neck stood on its own.

To get Eisenhower’s voice correct, he was instructed to listen to his famous “Order of the Day” speech. He was instructed to adapt to its dramatic and impactful tone with all the feelings that the speech conveyed. The actor was in awe of the General who delivered the speech without shedding a single tear.

The research was apparent ever since the first look of the movie dropped, but Fraser also opens up about a familiar reminder while shooting for the film.

Brendan Fraser taken aback by the film set

Brendan Fraser says he experienced a "deja vu" moment as he entered the second-floor office and set of the latest movie, Pressure, which was filmed at Mentmore Towers in Buckinghamshire, England. He was suddenly taken back to the time when he was filming The Mummy Returns.

“Oh gosh, this is the same location that was used in The Mummy Returns. John Hannah jumped out of it into a crash mat,” he said, recalling memories from the shooting days of the blockbuster film.
